Guest guest Posted January 21, 2004 Report Share Posted January 21, 2004 My Fellow Lupies, Just wanted to check in and let you know that I went to my first excercise session at the YMCA this morning......It really felt good to get out and meet some new people. The excercises were easy......just range of movement and strengthening of muscles with 1 lb. dumbbells .......rubber stetchie thingies.......and rubber balls. I did most of the excercises sitting in a chair .....but was able to do some standing ones too......just not the ones putting weight on my right leg. After the excercises some of us sat and chatted & had coffee......I couldn't have coffee cause all they had was caffienated......so one of the ladies went and got a bunch of suggestion cards for us to fill out asking if we could have DECAF. as well as reg. !! I thought that was really sweet ......as I was the only one there who couldn't have caffiene. I also got some wonderful news last night........My son has finally got his visitation rights to his daughter back. ........I won't go into all the details of the terrible divorce,and custody battle that has dragged on for about 5 years. He had temporary custody of her at one time.......and his wife had weekend visitations...Then he made the mistake of agreeing to try one more time to make a go of the marriage,and let his ex- wife move back in with them.....(the divorce wasn't final at the time)....It soon became apparant that it wasn't going to work ......He told her she was going to have to leave, She said ,"I'm not going anywhere!" and the battle started all over again.....this time she got the house, the car, and temp. custody of , with having only supervised visits !! .......then already with about a $10,000. attorneys bill......went into a severe depression.....and I'm sorry to say, started drinking and just dropped the ball. This was about the time that I was diagnosed with Lupus, also, I think that the stress of trying to help him keep was a big contributing factor in my Lupus. They had lived with me for two years, and I took care of , and took her for Therapy every week, I had to see and listen to all the arguements and battles that went on. His Ex-wife had two older sons by a previous marriage, and the oldest son, then 12 years old was sexually molesting who was 4 yrs. old when it first came to light. I was the one who saw him actually molest her.....who knows how long it had been going on before I caught him at it........Well needless to say .......this brought all the stuff back up for me from my own childhood ......I was molested from the age of three........ Whew.......I said I wasn't going to go into all that ........ Any way ...... is 13 yrs old now and I haven't seen her for 4 yrs........I will be able to see ~MY SHANNIGAN~ again soon. has to prove first that he has got his stuff back together .....and then will be able to bring her to see me.
