From the OATS test, the arabinose value was almost 3 X the max. limit so if what they claim that would clearly indicate a yeast overgrowth problem. Her stool test did not show the yeast, but it does make sense. I understand that yeast may not always get picked up on the particular sample, but this sample also was doomed because what I submitted was totally constipated and dried out. I am very interested in getting the yeast to culture so I would have a starting point of understanding which natural and prescription medicines her strain of yeast is sensitive to. >For another test, I would be sure to send in a sample that is in better testing condition to at least increase my odds. My question is for just this determination, would a general lab have as good of a chance at verifying this? Or is one of the specialty labs like recommended, and/or is there one that has a better reputation particularity in this area? >Thanks, >Kari > > Kari doesnt seem to matter the conditon of my son's stools - he always fails to get " culturalable " samples. This is likely due to Ig_ issues. We usually have luck with Grapefruit Seed Extract with turning things around. We give that for a few days (just a few drops in something) and then follow up with multiple species of probiotics. This always seems to turn things around. As long as there are no known allergies try various natural methods: MCT Oil Olive Leaf Oregano Oil Sacchromyces boulardii in conjunction with probiotics It is also good to test for other parasites other than bacteria and yeast. Fish oil can help with the itchiness. I can't help with the vitamin A and beta carotene issues. I take both. mjh " The Basil Book " http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/
