My daughter spit hers out in the middle of the night too. She takes it just fine during the day. I've been trying to give it too her without waking her up. I suspect that's the problem. Do you wake your kids to dose them? Do you re-dose if they spit some out? Also, I posted this question seperately but haven't gotten an answer. When I mix the ALA with juice or water it doesn't all disolve no matter how long I shake it. Should I let the undisolved part settle and only give the liquid from the top? OR should I shake it up right before giving it so the solids mix in? TIA
Guest guest
Hi , I thought myself it was a pretty important question. I've read through all of Andy's index and didn't see it. Maybe I missed it and should read it all again because I don't think my question will be answered on the board. Anyway, my son didn't have any real negative reactions once we stopped so I figured it was probably okay if he didn't get the whole dose. I knew that if we did something wrong that we would see it. On your other question I'm not sure. I can't get the solid to mix up with the liquid at all but since I use the large medicine dropper it all comes out anyway. I just keep adding a little liquid until it all is out of the dropper. Thanks for responding and good luck to finding answers wherever they might be. > > I'm chelating my 2 year old using ALA--and Andy's protocol. 20 mg > > every 3 hours. Guest guest
P.S. , Sorry forgot to answer your other question. My son WILL NOT wake up no matter what you do. I just use one of those large medicine droppers that you get from the doctor and squirt in the side of his mouth. He will fight me even while he's sleeping but will not wake up. He wouldn't take it even if he was. When he spits some out I've been trying to add a little more, but as I don't know how much to spit out I don't know how much to readd. > > I'm chelating my 2 year old using ALA--and Andy's protocol. 20 mg > > every 3 hours. Guest guest
, I'm so glad your Son didn't have any negative effects. I didn't see any with my daughter either. I've also read all of Andy's index and haven't seen anything about our question either or about getting the ALA to mix up. I keep checking back here hoping someone will answer. If I do find an answer I'll be sure to let you know. > > > I'm chelating my 2 year old using ALA--and Andy's protocol. 20 > mg > > > every 3 hours. Guest guest
Thanks, Moria, I think he's swallowing at least half. Then I give him a little more because I'm afraid if I give him too much that it will be the same problem with a variation in dosage. He fights that dose also. So I want to GUESS he's getting between the 10-20 mg,(His regular dose is 20-25mg) but my original question was if he just got half of his normal dose is that okay? Does anything get screwed up with the chelation? I guess I'm trying to figure out what range is okay. Can you be 10 mg off ...? I'm already a few milligrams off here and there because of pill cutting. We don't have problems too much the first few days but towards the end he is really fighting me! He has no receptive language so there's no talking to him or calming him. But it's like I told , since I saw no real negative effects the day after I figured that I did everything okay.(I first posted this question before I knew for sure) Thank you, > > > > I'm chelating my 2 year old using ALA--and Andy's protocol. 20 > > mg > > > > every 3 hours. Guest guest
Thanks Moria. It is ALA only I'm trying to mix. I'll try another brand and see if its any better. > > I'm sorry, I think I'm getting lost--- um-- is it the mixing > question you are referring to here? > > I don't know the answer to the question. But you can really only do so much about this, so do what you can and that's it. best, Moria
Guest guest
I add a few drops of honey to the powder and then add the water-- it seems to mix up better when you first mix it with honey. Guest guest
I have not used ALA yet, but I had the same problem with DMSA. I changed brand after finishing the bottle and it does not happen anymore. At the time I had this problem, Andy Cutler responded that it was probably the filler. You can search in the archives msg #81372. I do NOT know if it is the same with ALA, but if it is also the filler, then you are fine, the ALA is disolved.
