Guest guest
Gee sweetie, I don't know what to say...I know it has to be a lot of work, just follow their list...I wish you lived closer, we could rent something together, split the bills and all and that would work, but you're about 3,000 miles away and that is just a wee bit too far. I wish you all the best of luck hun... ~*~ Akiba~*~ ~*~Pragmatic Visionary~*~ The World revolves around the Sun My World revolves around My Son That which does not kill me only serves to make me stronger -- do you ever feel like... You just can't satisfy anybody? As you know, I live in subsidized housing. We had our annual inspection on August 13th. It took a month and a half for the maintenance supervisor to let me know that we did not pass our inspection and were rescheduled for another inspection on October 6th. I learned today that we still did not pass and now we are on probation for housekeeping. We have another inspection scheduled for the 20th. If we do not pass that inspection, we will have two more chances to pass and if not, then we will get our lease terminated. While I am not the best housekeeper, I will admit that our unit is reasonably clean and safe. I spent hours cleaning the floors, sometimes with my mop and sometimes on my hands and knees using a scrub brush. Yet, the floors are one of the items on the list that says what needs to be cleaned. I have been in pain for a week and have a sore throat that won't go away. I wish that I was better able to deal with the stress. It used to be that this sort of thing wouldn't bother me, but I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Sometimes I feel like I'm back living with my mom. No matter what I did, I was never able to hear my mom say, "good job". Not once have I ever heard the maintenance supervisor say "good job". Either we pass, or we don't pass. I just don't think people should be evicted for housekeeping issues if they are making efforts to keep their units reasonably clean and safe.I saw a house for rent not far from where we live. It listed 5 bedrooms, but they must be small because the house doesn't look big enough. Anyway, the posted rent was $1675/month. If 5 college students rent the house, it would cost them $335/month each. But, a family, especially one who has a limited income would be hard pressed to afford that rent and have money left for utilities, food, and other bills. If I could afford to live somewhere else, I would move in a heartbeat.Donna in WA

Guest guest
Wow, Donna. This is a hard thing to believe! How clean does one's home have to be?? To be told twice that your place isn't clean enough is very frustrating. I'm certain your place is clean and wonder why the inspector didn't give you a pass.Dan U dao_nguu@... Guest guest
Akiba, I appreciate your thoughts. I have tried similar tactics when several years ago, the walls were the issue. I showed him how I would scrub the walls and the pain would come off, but the perceived dirt on the walls stayed put. Then he took the scrubber from my hand and proceeded to scrub the wall clean. Remember, though, I have issues with weakness, the unit is painted with cheap rental quality paint, and the maintenance supervisor is big and burly, built like a linebacker. It was obvious to me that no matter what I said to him, he could prove that the job could be done and if he could do it, anybody can do it. His attitude is that he is better than anybody who lives in subsidized housing. A friend's comment after reading the birth announcement of his and his wife's new baby: Some people should not be permitted to breed. If I could afford to live elsewhere, I would. Guest guest
I know what you mean about the weakness. It's awful. It's too much trouble just to raise my arm sometimes, so to really put a little strength in it to scrub something, is out of the question. The pain isn't just bad, it's get paralyzing in a way. Guest guest
I don't know the answer but this seems like discrimination against you because of your disability. Does your state have an office of disability? Arizona has such an office connected with the governor's office. Is your subsidized housing Federal or State?
