We had a hair test done but the wrong kind of test it was a Hair

toxic element exposure profile which does not have the info I need.

We did get a baseline urine test before we did a challange with DMSA.

This has the right info but is it as good as a hair test? According

to the counting rules he fails on step three. There are also results

after the dmsa was given and the results from that he fails every

step in the counting rules. What does this mean? Should we do another

hair test?

Judy,

Urine tests don't really tell you what you need to know. When you say, " he

fails on step three of the counting rules " do you mean he meets that rule or he

meets the other two but fails to meet that one? If they did the wrong hair

test, how do you know? Counting rules only apply to the hair analysis (DDI).

How long ago did they do the hair analysis? Did DDI do it. I've heard they

save the samples for a while. If DDI did it and not long ago you should call

and ask that they run it for the correct test.

this is like asking if an apple is like a banana. The urine test

does not have " the right information " because it is a different

test. It is testing excretion of <whatever> in a urine sample,

which may or may not be similar to hair.

you should not use the counting rules with urine!

it means nothing. The counting rules apply to DDI HAIR TESTS!

If you want to use the counting rules, yes.
