Hi ..

It is so very nice to hear an update about your life and how you are doing.. I am sorry to hear though that you have been yo yoing... I have not been on here much lately myself since my book is growing by leaps and bounds.. I decided to expand it into four or five seperate recipe books..

I would love to join your new group when you are ready to fly with it.. I also have limited time but love your concept of just thinking of eating healthy as a way of life.. As you know I have maintained a healthy way of eating for over 20 years now and that was long before there was a South Beach.. I simply am here because I do love the concept of SB although I do not eat everything on Phase 2 because I am aware of how things effect my body.

What I would like to ask you now or anyone else that belongs to the South Beach Website is to have an important ingredient approved by the SB nutrionists there.. I know this ingredient is not allowed in the books because they never used to make it whole grain.. However now they have many varities of whole grain matzos.

I am holding in my hand a box of "Light Bran" Matzo that is made with (listing the ingredients in order) Whole Wheat Flour (contains gluten), Wheat bran and Water.. these are the total ingredients in it..

Here are the Nutrition Facts

Per Serving: ( 1 Matzo)

Calories: 85

Calories from fat: 5

Total Fat: 0.6g

Saturated Fat: 0g

Cholesterol: 0mg

Sodium: 0mg

Total Carbohydrates: 21.5g

Dietary Fiber: 5.4g

Sugars: 0g

Protein 3.6g

I use various recipes from deserts to main course using this wonderful unleavened bread.. It is in fact the only bread I will eat since my sweetie and I tend to put on weight when yeast is involved.. As a matter of fact I know lots of people that tend to gain when they eat something with yeast in it.. For that reason I have learned to make my own Matzos and developed recipes using them.

I would love to be able to share some of my very own recipes with this group.. However although I know in my heart this is one of the very best breads Dr A lists it as not approved. But I believe that is because of the fact they never made it whole grain before and high fiber.. I make a 100 % whole wheat, a light bran, and a Spelt version... they are also out now in your local supermarkets..

I look forward to the response...and hope one of you can forward the nutrition facts on this to the nutritionist there..

These recipes will be out in my ethnic foods section.. I do hope to be able to share some with this lists.

Adieu

A lil birdie whispered in my ear so I thought I'd pop in and say hellobefore zipping away again. :-PWe managed to get moved into the new house...more or less (well, probablymore). There've been some significant tasks in making this all happen andtime's been fairly well consumed with getting the new house in order (almostthere), the old house cleared out (nowhere done), and fixing the umpteenbazillion things that the *)$@!@~@)*$`! Before us left behind (I *SWEAR*these people did nothing to maintain this place for the 8-9 years they livedhere -- unbelievable).A few of us have been p & m'ing about the stark differences between those whosee the SBD as a diet and those who see it as a way of life -- so I set up anew group called SBDWOL that I hope to expand out soon. The whole ideabehind the group is to bring

together folks who really think "way of life"as opposed to just "way to lose some extra weight". Right about the time Icreated the group, we started finding all the things that needed doingaround the house so it's been put on the backburner for a bit (I'm approvingnew members but it's fairly slow for obvious reasons right now).I had hoped to start a regular exercise plan -- this has also beenbackburnered due to a lack of time. FWIW, I *AM* much more active right nowthan previously so it's not a total loss but it isn't as far along as I'dlike. I did finally get my bike up to the new house last night so I shouldfinally be able to start daily rides soon. In the meantime, a good chunk ofmy exercise comes from cutting yards at TWO houses each week as well asgardening at both and other clean-up type work. From a diet perspective...I'm not pleased. :( The last couple-three weekshave been spent

yo-yoing on and off the plan. The current pace has beenhitting me hard as has all the attendant stress. To say I've divedoff-the-wagon a few times would be putting it lightly. I've been workinghard to keep to the more important principles of the SBD but some unhealthyfast food has crept in there as has some less than balanced eating habits.Expenses of having two homes have hit us hard as well and the food budgethas seriously tightened; we've been working through our stores in an effortto keep costs down. My plans to go to a more strict vegetarian plan havebeen pushed off until either finances stabilize or my garden startsproducing (and that's a ways off since I'm only JUST starting my seeds thisweek). It's been a tough transition for the entire family, getting into the newhouse. One of our dogs, a 10 year old lhasa-apso/poodle mix, is NOTadjusting at all -- we've actually had to keep him down at the

old house asall he does here is bark. We've come to the realization that we'll HAVE tofind him a new home or take him to the pound but if he's reacting this badlyto moving it isn't likely he'll react any better to a new home elsewhereeither. We do not want to take him to the pound -- the SPCA is just a placeto take animals to be euthanized and little more (75% of all animals takenthere end up being "destroyed"). We're concerned he may have actuallysnapped under the pressure of the move -- he's REALLY not himself. If hecannot adjust and we cannot find a home for him, we may have to put him down-- we feel this would be better than taking him to the SPCA where they'll nodoubt do the same and at least this way he'll have a proper burial. Thishas been very difficult for us as well; he's been with us since he was apuppy. The big task at the new house for the first 2 weeks was cleaning the garageand

moving our own things in. To give you an idea of how much junk thesepeople left behind, we threw out around 50 bags and Freecycled a solid 3-4pick-up trucks worth. We've had Freecyclers picking up at all hours of theday and night for the last 3 weeks. :)With everything that's going on, I've had precious little time for myfavorite groups. I hope to be able to get in here a bit more sometime nextmonth, but for now I'll have to keep focused on the non-computer stuff alittle while longer. I'll try to post on occasion if someone directssomething at me specifically (I'm at least skimming the messages).Otherwise, I'll catch y'all next month!!!!! :)Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones - and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and

bad fats. For more on this Way Of Eating please read "The South Beach Diet" by Arthur Agatston, MD. ISBN 1-57954-814-8 Just hanging out at the beach and playing in the sandbox...
