Please don't be offended - I'm sure that whoever posted this was just letting

off steam. We've all experienced so much frustration (and wasted so much $$$)

with a lot of doctors, that sometimes we need to vent. I'm sure they realize

that there are many doctors out there, like your husband, who are wonderful

and caring. Many others are not, including the kabillions of pediatricians who

told us that it's perfectly normal for our 2 year old children to have lost all

language and eye contact - just a phase; bring her back when she's three.

(So, a year goes by....) That's one of the kinds of things that's so

frustrating!

I'm truly sorry your feelings were hurt - please try to understand that your

husband is probably in a minority in a lot of these people's eyes....

I am deeply offended by your remark! My husband is an M.D. with an

undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He was trained to practice conservative,

evidence based medicine. He still believes in the ART and SCIENCE of

medicine. He abhors the BUSINESS of medicine and how it affects patients.

He is board certified in Emergency Medicine, also board certified in

Forensic Medicine and a board certified Forensic Examiner. He is a firm

believer in " Nutraceuticals " and travels all over the country giving

lectures to physician's (and lay people) regarding the many benefits and

(some) dangers of vitamins and herbs. He does not represent a product nor

do we sell anything. He does not recommend a particular brand nor does he

do paid endorsements. He DOES, however, contact the vitamin and herbal

manufacturers to determine ALL ingredients in their products, whether or not

they do quality assurance testing on EVERY batch.

In his spare time time, he volunteers as Medical Director at the local

Community Clinic for the underprivileged, serves as President for our local

Caring Communities organization, serves on the board of Violence Free

Families, serves as President of one of the largest medical societies in our

State, serves on the Editorial Board of the State Medical Association

Journal. Plus numerous committee assignments for his hospital. He is the

Medical Director of the website for one of the largest hospitals in our

state and answers questions from all around the world. He is a strong

advocate of patient information, does a weekly radio program (at no charge)

called the Medical Minute to promote health awareness and prevention,

encouraging people to be fully involved in their own health care decisions.

Not only is my husband a caring and committed physician, he is a WONDERFUL

husband and father! Our eight year old son has been diagnosed with

Asperger's Syndrome. Therefore, in addition to all of his other

responsibilities and duties, he is working tirelessly researching (and

currently preparing a letter to JAMA) to help facilitate an understanding in

the mainstream medical community regarding the STRONG connection between the

mercury in children's vaccines and the neurological " trauma " it causes to

children (and adults) . He is earnestly using every opportunity to

educate his colleagues on the very real dangers and complications our

children are facing because of Thimerosal. He is trying to make a

difference one physician at a time (and they ARE beginning to listen). He

is ACTIVELY involved in our son's different therapies (i.e. taking karate

with us to encourage self-discipline and gross motor control; Cub Scouts to

build responsibility and social skills, attending the biofeedback sessions

with our son's neuropsychologist, closely monitoring our son's progress

with the medications prescribed by the pediatrician, working with our son

using computer programs to build language skills and facial recognition

skills. etc., etc, etc).

Finally, considering he was a licensed, practicing physician at 23 years of

age (skipped a year of high school, a year of college and EVEN graduated

medical school a year early)...I think it is QUITE safe to say he is NOT a

moron!!!!

Before you speak next time...realize that you are not the ONLY one grieving

over a child harmed by the BUSINESS of medicine and pharmaceuticals.

The chiropractors call them Mad Dogs.

I can't really print what the MD's call the chiropractors.

But this obscures the fact that they are mostly ordinary people

trapped in a bad system just as much as you and I are.

Hi Lujene,

Your husband sounds like a wonderful man and a good doctor .We the parents

of autistics have had to deal with many arrogant and ignorant doctors .They

made us feel like idiots when we questioned the validity of their actions

and ended up with autistic children because we trusted and believed in

them.We are fortunate that we have a person on the list who can lend

credibility to our fight. There have been many wonderful people speaking at

the congressional hearings....some were listened to and some were not. Let's

hope your husband can make such a tremendous difference that the horrific

crime of making children autistic on a daily basis ends immediately.A whole

generation of children is being damaged....mostly males.Where will our

country be in 20 years when alot of our men have been damaged?(of course I

am referring to our military) Pretty scary! Our children even if they recover

will never be able to serve because they will probably not be able to

receive vaccines ever again. For this reason alone, the government should be

acting quickly to stamp out autism. I have questions for your husband that

no other doctor has been able to answer fully. Ask him if he would be

interested in hearing them.

Lujene,

It sounds like in the case of your husband, MD stands

for " much dedication " . Or maybe " mindful devotion " .

How wonderful.
