I would suggest looking into the files section for what is suggested there. For my child, following these guidelines and using ALA to chelate ended the hearing sensitivities. This was documented by professional auditory testing to no longer be a problem. The other thing is are you giving any thing to treat for yeast? I find (and most others do as well) that treating for yeast and promoting good flora at the same time of chelating is also needed. Guest guest
Andy I have recently began using ALA alone to chelate my 11 year old son. With DMSA I did not see much improvement. With ALA I am seeing tremendous improvement in terms of conversation skills and general more understanding and spontaneous language. He is How can I say more " with it " . On the down side he is covering his ears more and his tourettes ......touching tapping etc. is up more at school. His dose is low 25 mg every four hours 3 days on 11 days off and he weighs 114 pounds. Does ALA increase hearing sensitivity.??? He is taking a good multivitamin and mineral supplement. Is there anything else I can do? .

Guest guest
> On the down side he is covering his ears more and , is it possible that your son is actually starting to hear better certain sounds? I am asking because this is what happened to my son when we started Vinpocetine. For about three weeks or so he was obviously bothered by certain kind of sounds, even the sound of wind blowing was annoying for him. But at the same time, he started to say new sounds I never heard him saying before. My impression was that he can hear better, so the result was that he could say now the sounds he couldn't hear before. > His dose is low 25 mg every four hours 3 days on 11 days off > and he weighs 114 pounds. I have 116 pounds and 25mg ALA is the highest dose I can take. But at the beginning of chelation 25mg was way too much for me. Is it possible that this dose is too high for now? (just an idea...) > He is taking a good multivitamin and mineral supplement. > Is there anything else I can do? Maybe try other vitamins/supplements too? in addition to this multivitamin. Guest guest
You could look into AIT you can find some info at the Autism Research Instuitute (ARI) web page. I have just compleated AIT with my son and what it boils down to is testing the hearing ( you will probaby find out your son can hear things most of us can't) then using filters and listening to music 20 half hour session you reprogram the brain not to hear those sounds. The cost is $1200 - my son covers his ears less and seems to be able to stay focused more - my son is 6 and non verbal - so I can't ask him if he fells better. I am happy with this therapy overall. My 2 cents Ann
Guest guest
Hi Ann, thanks for the post . We did AIT a year ago and I can't say we got any results from it. The ear covering was gone for a long while until it resurfaced recently. I am at a loss. . Guest guest
This may or may not be relevant, but for my daughter, while we chelated things would definately change for her. For the longest time you could practically run her over with the vacuum, and it wouldn't bother her a bit, after 12 rounds all of the sudden she's deathly afraid of the noise of the vacuum. I contribute this to the metals moving around the body and getting displaced in other areas and affecting different things. That could be a far fetched theory, but I also noticed wonderful things on round 12, she could usually fight the yeast off with only one dose of GSE the last day of chelation, on round 17, she got her eye/hand coordination. I've been trying for months to get her to use the mouse on her computer games and she has been unsucessful, well yesterday, she just started doing it, working the thing like a pro!!!! My son covered his ears after many rounds of ALA. He was starting to hear better, so things seemed loud to him. This went away after a few months. Now he only does it when he has a yeast issue. Guest guest
, I'm a mercury-toxic adult. I've always had sensitive hearing... Sounds can make me nuts (agitated and angry). The volume control has to be just right. (So does the temperature.) I've gotten to the point where I almost want to take ear phones with me wherever I go. I'm always wanting to tell people to be quiet! Noisy restaurants are the worst. I've done some chelating myself with ALA. It has affected my ears, but I'm not sure how to explain it. First, I think I'm even more sound-sensitive than I was. Second, my ears feel like I have a slight cold or like when you have pressure from air pressure changes. It's quite bothersome. Also, sometimes it feels like you're hearing from under water (or the inside-the-barrel hearing). I also have tinnitis (ringing, buzzing other noises inside the head) from time to time. It also seems that freeing up the mercury has freed up viruses somehow, as well. I started taking herbal anti-virals and that has helped the head and ears. During the chelation rounds, I was pretty nutty - depressed, paranoid, fearful, etc. I find that I want to push away things from my mind - that makes me sometimes put my hands up as if I were physically pushing things away.... I'm not done with the chelation process, but taking time off from it. Judy In , Hanna <angela.hanna@s...> wrote: > Does ALA increase hearing sensitivity.??? > >> . Sounds very much like myself lately. Come to think of it last time I went to a restaurant I did find it very loud and almost rushed through my meal to get out. ( I thought I was just tired). >I've done some chelating myself with ALA. It has affected my ears, >but I'm not sure how to explain it. First, I think I'm even more >sound-sensitive than I was. My son has told me " Mom, it's raining in my head " and a few days ago I heard a low frequency sound that neither my NT son nor my husband could hear. I never connected it to chelating mercury. I just always thought that I had really sharp hearing. >It also seems that freeing up the mercury has freed up viruses >somehow, as well. Isn't that something ............how the external body mirrors our internal state of being. Quite honestly......... I have never felt as depressed, sad and angry as I have felt while chelating lately. I guess I must be quite toxic. >I'm not done with the chelation process, but taking time off from it.
