Guest guest
in begining of my pregnancy when I was unaware of it, one of my molars that had a large amalgam filling in it broke in my mouth. I guess alot of mercury went into my system when it broke. then I went to the dentist to fix that tooth. the amalgam was removed and was replaced by white metal free filling, while reconstructing the tooth itself. (saved from root canal) that procedure was done when I was about 1 week after concieving. is my unborn at risk to be damaged from all that mercury? I am soo worried! What's done is done (and is probably OK), but the stress of worrying actually is bad for the baby. Andy . . . . .. . . .
Guest guest
I think that most dentists would agree that the chance of a problem related to the removal of one silver amalgam filling one week after conception is virtually zero. Please do not worry about this. The stress caused by anxiety is probably more detrimental than the event you describe. Congratulations on your pregnancy! S. Cantor, D.D.S. It is my understanding that ***most*** dentists believe the use of mercury in amalgam fillings is not harmful, so what ***most*** dentists believe about this would not be really important to me....
