important report and remind everyone how important it is that more funding for

research and services for autism is. Everyone in the autism community gains to

benefit whenever there is independent confirmation of the autism epidemic.

TOMORROW AM, TUESDAY MAY 13, the California Department of Developmental

Services (DDS) will issue a significant and comprehensive new report on autism.

The report is expected to produce important new up-to-date findings, with

extensive data and analyses on the autism population, providing sobbering and

profound information that will effect the entire autism research community and

persons with autism and their families...not only in California but nationally

and worldwide as well.

In April 1999, DDS released it's first, and now historic, Autism Report...a

report that documented a staggering 273% increase in autism from 1987-1998. That

report, the findings having been confirmed by independent investigators, was the

first report of it's kind to document the rapid and unexplained rise in the

incidence of autism. The 1999 DDS report lead to numerous subsequent

epidemiological studies on autism throughout the United States and the world.)
