Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have had diabetes for a long time and often volunteer for diabetes related events. I grew up in Mass, though I live in Buffalo, NY now. And when growing up I went to Clara Barton Camp every summer. It was the one place I felt like every other kid for a little while. Well as an adult I was a counselor there, as well as volunteering my time for events like Family fun day. Now they are teaching the kids that go there things like I have to check not test my sugars, and I have diabetes I am not a diabetic. Reasons being that you can fail a test, not a check and that there is no Ick in Diabetes. They base this on no one needs to feel more negative about themselves. I like this way of thinking. They are trying to treat all the issues with diabetes, not just the medical part. In my opinion, the emotional and mental is just as important as being physically healthy. What are peoples take on this? ~tte
