Guest guest
Janice I find that a urine reading of 16 relates to BHB of 2+. My daughter does best at 3.6 or above. Guest guest
I found on ours that 4 is approx 16, 3 is 8, 2 is 4 etc. Still not totally sure tho as Mike is only peeing once a day (sometimes if I am really lucky I can get him to go twice) so we arent getting truely accurate urine readings right now. I do know tho that when his BHB is 4 or higher he has no seizures (I think he does ok at around 3.6 and higher but not when weaning then the seizures seem to come anyway unless above 4) I have the insert from the machine that tells approx what the different numbers mean (what is moderate, high etc) but hubby is sleeping right now. I can post when he wakes up. Jenn jansin62 wrote: > Hi Jenn, > > thanks, I found the Medisense monitor up here in Canada for > measuring BHB in the blood. Guest guest
IN REGARD TO THE BLOOD KETONES ACCORDING TO SOME OF THE CLINICS: OPTIMAL LEVELS ARE: 3.84-5.76 AND ACCEPTABLE LEVELS: 3.05-3.61 AND THE LOWEST SHOULD BE OVER 2.0 THESE ARE MEASURED IN MMOL/L OF COURSE WE ALL HAVE TO GO BY OUR CHILDREN MY DAUGHTER DOES GOOD OVER 3.0-4.O BUT WE ALSO CHECK BLOOD GLUCOSE AND THIS HAS ALSO GOT TO BE UNDER 75. OPTIMAL LEVELS ARE 55-65 AND ACCEPTABLE LEVELS ARE 50-75 (U.S.UNITS) WE ARE FINE TUNING OUR DAUGHTER AND THE GLUCOSE LEVELS HAVE HELPED US PREVENT THE SM BREAKTHROUGH SEIZURES SHE WAS HAVING BEST OF LUCK SANDI
Guest guest
WHAT URINE KETONE STRIPS DO YOU USE THAT HAS NUMBERS LIKE 16 I USE STRIPS THAT SHOW COLORS FOR 80-160 WOULD THIS BE YOUR 8-16?? MY DAUGHTER NEEDS TO BE 80++-160 SO I WOULD THINK YOU ARE SAYING THIS IS 3-4 BLOOD KETONES (WHICH IS WHERE SHE NEEDS TO BE ALONG WITH HER BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS UNDER 75) THANK YOU SANDI
Guest guest
Hi something to be aware of in regard to home ketone blood test kits is the fact that they tend to give a lower reading than the true serum BOHB. I have the Medisense Optium, and I have to add about 30% to the result to obtain an indication of what the serum BOHB would be. I arrived at this conclusion by doing an optium ketone test at the same time blood was drawn for lab BOHB test to be done. These are the comparative figures I have obtained so far: Optium fingerstick Lab BOHB 3.6 4.6 3.4 4.7 I would be interested to hear the findings of others on this. DO YOU TEST BLOOD GLUCOSE AND IF SO WHAT RANGE DO YOU USE? DOES ANYONE MAKE KETO ICE CREAM? WHAT BRAND ICE CREAM MAKERS HAVE YOU FOUND WORK GOOD? THANK YOU SANDI

Sandi - not Jenn (!!) , but we aim for between 3.5 and 4.5 test kid BHB level. > DO YOU TEST BLOOD GLUCOSE AND IF SO WHAT RANGE DO YOU USE? Different levels to there I think, pretty similar to bhb actually, we aim for around 3.5 to 4.0. > DOES ANYONE MAKE KETO ICE CREAM? > WHAT BRAND ICE CREAM MAKERS HAVE YOU FOUND WORK GOOD? 's keto ice cream is just oil and cream mixed and frozen together - that's about as creative as I get! > THANK YOU > > SANDI Hill
Guest guest
Just wanted to say these are the same ranges I use here too (canada) I think they differ somewhat from the ranges of the machines in the US tho. I whip the cream (weigh the correct amount out AFTER it is whipped and then add the sweetner and flavoring) and freeze. I dont use an ice cream maker either. Want to look into getting a " sno cone " maker for next summer tho in hopes to boost his fluid intake in the warmer months.
