Guest guest
Greta, Yes, the ravenous hunger is common. He's not eating any veggies from the looks of your menu below...... is that right? Will he not eat any at all? You might be able to succesfully sneak some cooked, pureed veggies into ground meat for meatloaf or burger patties.... or even right into the muffin batter. Patti, mom to Katera, SCD 15 months Day 4 and ravenous, I think this is normal? Day 4 and things are going pretty well. His stomach was upset the second day lots of burbing. Woke up at night saying " hurt hurt " passed gas and went back to sleep. Much better third day and night and today. He's been a bit crabby and a little dark under the eyes but from what I've read this could easily be due to die off. Bram is constantly hungry I think I read that this is typical. Is it? I just give him cheese and water. I don't want to give him anymore muffin or waffle given what I've read about nuts being hard to digest. The following is his diet so far. (He didn't start w/the intro diet, plan to do that later this week or next. Dad's been out of the country 3 wks and w/2 kids I'm just doing what I can. Dad is due back this Friday so plan to catch up next week.) Breakfast: 2 hot dogs, almond waffle w/honey, apple cider cut w/water Snack: cheddar cheese and water Lunch: hamburger patty, almond muffin, apple cider cut/water, 1T apple sauce Snack: cheddar cheese and water Dinner: Same as lunch though may be w/ 2 hotdogs instead of hamburger Snack: cheddar cheese water or cider w/water Also added in 1-2 teaspoons of goat yougurt w/honey today. He's also on the Houston enzyme. Guest guest
Greta, His diet looks to me to be way too high in protein. Can you give us an idea of how much cheese you are giving him and how much juice he is getting in a day? Also, how many ounces of meat in the hamburgers? I use Fitday.com to determine the protein, carb, fat intakes. But just based on looking at it I would guess that you are looking at maybe 50-60%protein, 30-40%fat and only 10%carbs. But once you give me the amounts of cheese and juice, I'll be able to calculate it accurately. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 18 months
Guest guest
He has never eaten a veggie since baby food. I'll try sneaking them into his burger. It looks like carrots are the best to start with. Is this correct? Thanks Greta, Bram 4.5 yrs, ASD, SCD 5 days > Greta, > Yes, the ravenous hunger is common. Guest guest
He's getting between 1-2 oz of cheddar/day, about 8 oz of cider/day (cut with 8 oz of water), and the hamburger patties are 2-3oz each. My cheap scale isn't very accurate but I don't think it's too far off. Until last week he would not touch a fruit or veggie. He now has apple sauce (2-4 T/day and working to increase he gags on it sometimes.) I'll try to add pureed carrots to his hamburger as Patti/Carol suggested and I plan to make pear sauce tonight and give it a whirl. I'll try to look at fitday.com tonight. Thanks. Guest guest
Greta, Based on your menu, this is what I got using Fitday.com... Calories 1478 Fat 99g Carbs 73g Protein 83g 1500 calories may not be quite enough for him depending on his size. But it's not too far off. My guesstimate would be about 1600 calories. The carb intake is too low I think. From what I have found the recommended amount is 135g-165g of carbs for a child. So, he is not eating too many calories, just too few carbs.
