Hi ,

Yes, you have the right idea. Every 4 hours---- at the

most-- between each dose, for 3 days.

The times could vary--- it could be 8 PM, midnight, 4 am,

8 am etc.

Or it could be 7:15 PM, 11:15 pm, 3:15 am, 7:15 am--

and so on.

It is also okay to give doses early if it is more convenient---

but no more than 4 hours between each dose is the goal.

When using ALA it is the same thing, but every 3 hours.

Hello Andy and Moria,

Could DMSA and ALA be given together every 3 1/2 hours. Would the life cycle for

ALA last an additional 1/2 hour.

Your comments are very much appreciated.

Regards

Yes, this is OK for some people. Others would need it more often.

Some might even benefit from taking it more often than every 3 hours,

but unless there are big problems to motivate it I don't suggest this

because they would go insane actually doing it.

-- Moria,

I was thinking re DMSA every 4 hours (which we are finally about to

begin), with dosing at, say - 2, 6 and 10 am & pm - wouldn't it make

sense to begin on Friday morning 6am and finish Sunday night 10pm.

You only lose one dose (2am Friday morning) but get a whole extra

night's sleep. Particularly important if you are doing chelation

every weekend.

I guess during school time parents of older kids must be starting

Friday afternoon and going thru till Sunday night (or in this case

would you recommend going finishing on Monday morning?)

And of course that's just DMSA. ALA is even trickier. But no one said

fighting autism was easy...

yes, this is exactly what I did. It is 2.6 days, as I count.

Although I did not " time " doses using " round " times like 6 am.

I would take first dose whenever I woke up, which might be

6:20 AM, and last dose (on day 3) as late as I was awake.

Generally speaking.

yes, a lot of parents do it just as you just stated: from

Friday after school to Monday morning.

In all these cases it is good to try to push the edges IMO.

ALA was not overly tricky for me. It did take me a while to get

the alarms all sorted out, and figure out that I actually sleep

7 hours at night, so a dose after 3.5 hours works out.

Do you have to do ALA every 3 hrs at night? I thought 4 hrs was

ok. I just started chelating my daughter yesterday with ALA alone

and did every 4hrs at night. Did I make a mistake?

Every 4 hours at night is **acceptable**, however, you are

still technically " stretching it " . It is a compromise that

is a SLIGHT stretch, to accomdate all us sensitive sleepers.

You did not make a mistake, you understand correctly.
