Argyle's pretty small, right? I love that area, and we were seriously

considering living in the Roanoke/Argyle area until dh got hired in

ville. But I would much rather commute to school going on 377 than

I-35E! Have you gone to any LLL meetings? There's a pretty good one in

ville, but I was wondering if they had one in Denton.....

>>

No, I don't mind at all! We found a bigger house and were rapidly frowing out

of our 2 bedroom duplex! LOL! We had 2 kids when we moved there and then by

the time we moved,I was pregnant again. We just needed more space and wanted

to be away from town. We liked ville, we just like the country better.

However, Argyle is growing so fast now, we'll have to move again just to get

into the country! LOL!

I haven't been to a LLL meeting, I know that probably sounds terrible to

most, but after my first child, I never had any problem nursing and was

pretty much home by myself and having babies so fast that i didn't seem like

I had time! LOL! Plus, and you know they say ignorance is bliss... I just

didn't think to quit nusing when I had problems with the first! I figured it

was normal, called a LC and kept going! Hehe! I sure am glad I found this

list though! ;)

I never knew just how much support I was missing!

I've never talked to a LC or been to a LLL meeting. I wouldn't mind doing

either, but never had any problems nursing either of my children. I would

love to go to an LLL meeting though. But, don't feel like paying dues. LOL

I'd rather do breastfeeding.com!!! LOL

That sounds wonderful...I often wondered how I should go about searching out

mothers who would want to do that....that is a good way to do it! :)

When I first started attending meetings in 1995, I couldn't afford to

pay for the membership. I couldn't even part with $5 a month for 6

months, if such a payment plan existed! When we got our tax refund in

March 96 though, I did pay for membership, mostly because the group's

Leader where I was attending then said that membership is to ensure that

LLL is there to help another mother who calls for help in the future,

and that if you feel like LLL has helped you, your membership will help

others.

The New Beginnings magazine was one of my favorite things to get in the

mail for the next two years. I swear that someone had been peeking in

on my life, because all of the situations that had write-in responses

were exactly things going on with me. It was so nice to open it up and

read various ways other moms had dealt with those issues.

If I remember the way that Leader explained how the membership dues were

broken down, of the $30 for membership, $18 goes to pay for the yearly

subscription to New Beginnings, maybe $5 goes to LLL International to

pay for operation costs, a few $$ (like 2 or 3) went to LLL of Texas to

cover operation costs and to enable them to fund events like

conferences, etc, and $5 stayed in the local group I was attending to

purchase books, supplies, etc. I was surprised at how little stayed

within our Group.

So I've stayed a member ever since. :) And I still love New

Beginnings, but I don't " devour " it within an hour like I used to! And

since the group I'm in now isn't well off, I bought some books that I

wanted to read out of the LLL catalog that weren't in our lending

library, read them, and then donated them to our group.

Sorry so long, but I just wanted to share why I paid my membership dues

and then some. :)

I think that these people aren't necessarily doing what they think is best

but what other's think they should do. Nothing ever lasts unless it is

something that you want to do yourself.

---I have wanted join LLL for awhile, but I'm in this situation you have

described. ANyone familiar with the LLL's around north Texas? I would love

to just go and sit in on meetings but really can't give any money right now.
