Guest guest
Hello all...I haven't been on the board for about 2 months or so...It has been ridiculously busy....Anyway, I do want to congratulate ! I am so happy that the cerclage went well and the pregnancy is going well. I am struggling over here....Hoping for some insight and feedback. You ladies are all so knowledgeable - I find this board to be a big source of education for me and I truly appreciate your stories. I am bummed because I already have UD and a higher risk for pre-term labor, mc, needing bedrest, and the like...That is enough to have you stressed....But, I am also struggling with fertility issues. I had a Lap/Hyst on 10/17 and they removed a lot of Endo. They gave me three cycles to try to get pg on my own and then they said they would start fertility treatments. Well, my 1st cycle was great - no Endo pain at all. Then, my 2nd cycle, I had unbelievable pain and I got so upset....To me, this meant that the Endo just came right back and so quickly. So, my RE said that we should move ahead more quickly. He wants to go right to Repronex, an injectible fertility drug, and IUI procedures. Now, the depressing and disturbing thing is that I just found out two things...One, my insurance will not cover ANY fertility treatment and this is going to cost us at least $900+ a month. I have Personal Choice PPO plan - supposed to be the best - and I can not believe they will not cover anything. Two, they told me the chances of multiples is greatly increased and if that happens, they would need to do selective reduction because of the UD to be able to save one of the babies. I am horrified at the idea of trying so hard and then needing to do that. Okay - to get to the point, here are my questions: 1.) Has anyone out there struggled with fertility problems, gone through treatment, and then lost the baby due to the MA issues? I would like to hear your input. 2.) Has anyone out there struggled with fertility problems, gone through treatment, and had a successful pregnancy? I would like to hear your story. 3.) Has anyone had any experience with Lupron for treatment of Endo? I have heard mixed stories about this drug and want some info on if it is bad or good. Also, should I steer away from it since we want to get pg and this would put that on hold, or should I take a step back, try the Lupron and then hope that my fertility is increased afterwards? 4.) Has anyone out there done fertility injections and then chose to not do the IUI and did you acheive a pg? 5.) Can anyone tell me any first-hand stories of being in a situation where you were told you needed to do a selective reduction and what did you do? 6.) Am I right to think that b/c of my MA and my Endo that we should not be wasting time and we should jump right into the treatments or do I have time to wait and save money and stuff? I apologize for soooo many questions, but hopefully, some of you will have a few answers.... Thanks!!!! Hi Marie, I'm kind of in the same situation you are and thought I could provide some insight. I had a lap done in Aug 2003 and we found a lot of Stage II to Stage III endo. My OB removed all he could see and started me on a six month course of Lupron in Sept 2003. My reasoning for going with the Lupron instead of immediately trying to conceive was because at the time we were not 100% sure of what kind of MA I have so I opted to do further testing regarding my MA while on Lupron. Lupron will not increase fertility. Basically it just keeps your body from going through the monthly hormonal cycle that allows your endo to grow and grow month after month. The hope is that without these hormones the endo will wither away and die and be reabsorbed by the body. The bad part is that you are essentially in a menopausal state while on Lupron. All those fun side effects of menopause come hand in hand with Lupron. The worst for me has been hot flashes and moodiness. Also you can lose bone density while on Lupron so if you do it be sure you also take a calcium supplement. I'm in my fourth month of Lupron therapy and plan to try to conceive once my uterine septum is resection and once my six months on Lupron is up. I am hoping the Lupron has bought me some time but I won't really know for sure until next year. I'm sorry I don't have more information for you, I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone. Hang in there girl. Suzie, 27 SU Bicollis Resection possible in 1-2 months
