Guest guest
i like the praise they received: " Quality art does not guarantee quality sobriety,.... " oh really, but you imply then there is still a chance that quality art COULD result in quality sobriety, or perhaps poor sobriety but these figurines show a respectful attention to detail, a sensitivity to the realities of human experience.... " especially desirable if the reality of your experience in 12-steps didn't quite meet the ideal of this hacks interpretation of " recovery " . " that capture the spirit of the 12 Steps. To contemplate one of these figurines is to meditate on one of the 12 Steps. To have this invitation to do that is a true gift. " i thought the true gift was sobriety. why would i need your action figures?
Guest guest
Thanks -- this is real " triple wacky " award winning art (is Stanton P. still running the wackies?). Unbelievable, thanks -- a pleasant response combining laughter and head shaking at the sheer high kitsch of this stuff. I liked the stepette on no 12 addressing the assembled step-zombies at the thousand year recovery reich rally -- the guy on 12 looks a bit like he's giving a seig heil salute (and on no 9, it appears that he makes amends by performing as an Elvis impersonator -- and why not?) . > >Reply-To: 12-step-freeegroups >To: 12-step-freeegroups >Subject: Female 12 Steppers Pewter Figurines >Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2000 20:08:26 -0000 > >I had a rather dark chuckle over this site. > >http://www.wayoflife.com/steppers/female.htm > >Notice how the figure's skirt gets a little longer with each step? > >There's male 12 stepper >pewter figurines too--don't mean to be sexist here, guys. > >http://www.wayoflife.com/steppers/male.htm > > > > > > ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Guest guest
First rate art crit., Dave -- I've just taken the liberty of snipping the lines and e-mailing them to these people -- maybe they'll have some new lines soon. I see you can get a " serenity mat " -- looks like a doormat to me. Guest guest
I was laughing so hard at the satire I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Jim and I recently discovered the excellent resources on the web about recovery that reject the XA cult. Got some great links from this list and thought I would decloak. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi This is the funniest URL Ive seen since the penis enlargement and foreskin redevelopment one I saw a few years ago. I laughed like a drain at these. my neighbours in this cyber cafe must think I am nuts. It really is true abt her skirt getting longer! what a pity the Powerlessness one doesnt show her in full alcoholic depravity! Does the male one start wearing shorts? Considering: " I think that your concept of depicting alcoholism in these figurines of yours is a superb idea. I think that the visual is always terribly helpful to our thought. And when I think of the 12 Steps and then look and see in miniature what I look at and see in people who need recovery or who are new to recovery, it just enhances my own sobriety, and I believe it will do this for anyone and everyone else in our magnificent program. " - Rev. ph P. , S.S. I thought they were supposed to depict recovery from alcoholism, not alcoholism itself - it rather does reveal the dreadful masochism of steppism those fugure represent. I note this guy is from one of the Step Nazi's SS Dicisions. ; P. > I had a rather dark chuckle over this site. > > http://www.wayoflife.com/steppers/female.htm > > Notice how the figure's skirt gets a little longer with each step? > > There's male 12 stepper > pewter figurines too--don't mean to be sexist here, guys. > > http://www.wayoflife.com/steppers/male.htm > >

On this monitor it looks like she has got an arrow sticking through her heart. Perhaps her spiritual experience resembled St Theresa's orgasmic fantasies on an angel piercing her heart with an arrow? a time lapse sequence would be hysterical with her writhing around on the floor, presumably after Step 1 without the excuse of being drunk. Note too how the last two show her standing at a lectern, but only the latter with an AA symbol - in other words, that suggests the first is a *church* lectern - despite being euphemistically titled " meditation " . The whole things looks like some kind of bizarre religious inculcation - which of course it is! P.

I think it does, Pete. See, I think she blacked out and came to her senses as a contestant in a wet t-shirt contest, that's why her clothes are so clingy. Plus she is having the bad hair day to end all bad hair days. Guest guest
Hello Jim, If you like XA satire you may find a couple of my pages to your liking -- try http://www.geocities.com/bouglaf/aa.html -- the next two pages are on similar themes, including a poke at the regrettable pope JimK of " church of god anamolous " (though we don't talk about him round here no more . . ). I don't think there's anything funny about atom bombs or XA, but humour is a way of stating . . . Best wishes, . > >Reply-To: 12-step-freeegroups >To: <12-step-freeegroups> >Subject: Re: Re: Female 12 Steppers Pewter Figurines >Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2000 16:43:02 -0600 > >I was laughing so hard at the satire I forgot to introduce myself. Guest guest
Check out the male ones. http://www.wayoflife.com/steppers/male.htm A couple of them look like he's trying to pee in a cup and Step 9 looks like he is staggering to stay on his feet. This is disgusting. This is presenting subliminal messages that youre still shitfaced until youve done all that religious stuff. I note also that apparently they themselves call themselves " steppers " . P.

" The powerful moments of recovery are artfully depicted in these high quality, fine pewter figurines sculpted carefully and beautifully detailed through the latest method of pewter casting...... " All the better to depict her boobs, which I noticed were quite prominent too. I guess they have a nude one called " More Revealed " . > Step 3 seems to me to be saying, why have I been cursed with > grotesquely oversized hands? The man has the same problem. The Step 12 male is either waving a fist or covering his face in shame. These folks arent alcoholics, they have acromegaly. P.
Guest guest
Hi , I don't see anything of the " happy, joyous and free " that AA promises folks in these figurines. Looks to me like a whole lot of misery and then you get to stand at a podium. Great goal. Quit drinking so that you can stand at podiums and talk about behaviors you no longer do. Then give credit to a bunch of folks who are doing the same damn thing.
