Guest guest
When I used ALA, very low dose, on my son, he slept with his head mashed up against the headboard. This went away about a week after stopping the ALA. Debbie
Guest guest
We've done several rounds of low-dose, three day ALA, with no obvious change, with our six year old son. This time I did a four-day round and by the last two days he really began to escalate yelling and head-banging. We ended the round but the symptoms are even worse today. Has anyone else ever experienced this, and will anything in particular help? If this goes on much longer, I'll have to consider taking him to a doctor for a sedative or something. Any ideas will be appreciated. Daria
Guest guest
Any kid who does head banging is likely to benefit from craniosacral therapy. We get very good results from cranio with our son, but we find he often needs an adjustment after a round of chelation - the rapid shifting of metals seems to cause imbalances. Treatment on the last day of a round or the first day after a round can be very helpful. If you are going to try cranio for your kid try to find a therapist who has experience with autistic kids. It may take several treatments before you see strong results, and the therapist may have to concentrate on chiropractic or osteopathic (depending on their background) before beginning the cranial work. Once you have passed a certain point with craniosacral therapy - once the groundwork has been done - it becomes a very good way of dealing with small problems. We have taken our son into the therapists waiting room screaming and crying, then brought him out 15 minutes later smiling and laughing. Guest guest
What is the purpose of craniosacral therapy - what is it supposed to do? Do most chiropracters know about about craniosacral therapy? If not, how do you find someone who knows about it? Thanks Abby steve_rotherham wrote: > Any kid who does head banging is likely to benefit from craniosacral > therapy. >
Guest guest
Also maybe lower the dose. Dr. Amy said her kids had lots of crazy behavior the first few rounds, but you want the least side effects you can get. Low and slow is the way to go. You don't get that much less mercury, but it's a lot easier on your child. (Sorry if you know this already!) I only add this because a lot of DAN docs seem to use pretty high doses. Guest guest
try www.upledger.com There's a whole network of circulating fluid that's just under the skin and sometimes gets blockages. Because of the hard bones of the cranium and the sacrum (the upside down triangular-shaped bone at the base of the spine) ear the surface skilled pracitioners can best feel the flow of that fluid and unblock problem areas. Guest guest
Are you giving folinic acid with the b-12? It is recommended to supplement with folinic acid to reduce hyperactivity/stims sometimes caused by the B-12. Colleen
Guest guest
Lots of mercury toxic autistic children do this. [ ] Head banging Our son TOm is still really banging his head. He places a mat or paperback book between his head and really hard things and often bangs his head on his knee. HIs knee is covered with bruises but he tends to use the front of his forehead so no bad marks there. What causes this? He's been on biomedical for almost 14 months. He is a little low in iron which we're supplementing (i.e. that's new) and he started nasal MB12 two weeks ago. But really he's been headbanging moreorless daily for the last six months and irregularly before that. His stools and " panda eyes " are much improved since adding probiotics and sacc boulardi 3 months ago. He takes a good range of supps, nothing that we haven't tested him to prove he needs. But - he gets into a rage and bangs and butts - it upsets and hurts him and makes us feel utterly useless. Any thoughts? Guest guest
Andy notes in his book that a lot of heavy metal toxic people dump iron for self-preservation purposes. Does the timing of the increased head banging coincide with iron supplementation? Andy says that if you are supplementing iron, to be careful to watch for side effects. It is not tolerated by all who are low iron. Just a thought. Anne > <tt> > Our son TOm is still really banging his head. Guest guest
My son Cade has had his helmet off for a week now and his poor head and face has so many bruises. With the helmet on he could crawl into and under the table and the helmet was there to block his head. He hasn't quite learned that he can't do that anymore. Suzanne Cade DOCband Will officially graduate on May 8th
