Hi All,

I have been chelating my son Colin for just over a year now using a conservative

approach. (DMSA 25 mgs, ALA 12mgs every 4 hours, 3 days on and 11 days off.) He

has been improving but very slowly. He has a huge documented lead issue. The

last round I just used the DMSA and I gave him 50 mg's and he did very well.

Can you just use the DMSA for the lead and if so how long? When do you need to

introduce the ALA? I know that Mercury even though it does not show up in

testing can be hiding. Anyone have some experience with this?? THanks so much

in advance...Kathy PS Colin weighs 55 pounds

Hey There Kathy,

So glad to see you were finally successful in getting on this list - YEA!!!

The 50 mg DMSA dose is a bit on the " high " side, but I'm happy to hear that

Colin did very well with it. Yes, indeed, you can just use the DMSA for the

Lead; as far as your question regarding " for how long " , I believe that it can

take up to 2 years (and maybe even longer) to get all of the Lead out.

Since Colin hasn't had any recent Hg exposure (no amalgams, no vaccines in

years, no seafood, etc.), you can use the ALA now. Best to dose every 3 hours

when using both the DMSA and ALA. Don't you have a DDI Hair Elements test for

Colin? Check it against the " Counting Rules " to look for likely Mercury

toxicity issues, as well as any other metal toxicities.

Miss you guys!

,

I have missed hearing from you so much!!! I wanted to tell you that we saw Dr.

K in Florida and he gave Colin an IV of Cysteine with vitamin c. It seemed to

really help. I wanted to ask Dr. Usman about this!!! I went to an Autism

support meeting last night. I gave one of the mothers the book " Children with

Starving brains. " The children in this area are very high functioning. Did you

know that every state's vaccine schedule is different? They only require 3 DPT

shots, 3 IPVs. Much less than Illinois who require 5 of each. I wonder if

anyone has done a study on the different states and prevelence of Autism due to

the number of shots given. Honestly, I think the reason that the mom's here

have not looked into chelation is because all of the children are so high

functioning. Anyway....still missing you all so much!!!!! Kathy[Non-text

Hello Kathy,

The main thing with ALA is that it can remove mercury from the brain.

If lead is a problem and mercury is NOT a problem, then just DMSA

should work fine. Actually, if you have used ALA for a year, that

is a quite a while. The problem is that it is really hard to be

CONFIDENT that someong DOESN " T have mercury (in brain or wherever).

But for JUST lead DMSA is fine.

good wishes,

Moria
