? regarding glutathione supp, test results

My DAN dr ordered the following blood tests, with results noted:

Cysteine, Plasma 3.09 (ref range 3.10-3.90mg/dL

Sulfate, Plasma 5.10 (ref range 4.80-5.30mg/dL

Reduced Glutathione 25 (ref range >=32mg/dL

It seemed to me like we were in pretty good shape: sulfate

in the middle of the reference range, cysteine real close to

being in range, glutathione low but not amazingly so. However,

my dr is recommending glutathione IV. I'm somewhat leary of

it, based on what I'm reading here. That is, that glutathione

isn't something that should be in blood, so an IV might be a

bad thing and cause allergic reaction.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what these test results

might indicate, and whether trying glutathione might be a

good idea?

If there's a doubt in your mind capitalize on it and opt out.

I would not do IV glutathione. I understand, that you can get your body to use

the glutathione which is there already more efficiently by supplementing vitamin

c etc.

Dagmar.

Try reading the section here about sulfur and thiols.

It will answer your questions, I think, as well as a having

a bunch of other info that is only vaguely related.

(Look for section on sulfur and thiols.)

good wishes,
