Hi,Im confused (once again) We are chelating using DMSA/ALA I have

read a post where just ALA is being used. This would really help us

if we could use just ALA (financially) Should I get another DDI hair

analysis done and see what heavy metals are there and then if

possible just use the ALA?? Or could I just use the ALA Now??

Also if we just use the ALA I think this would help with the loose

stool she seems to get when we chelate..Please help and explain this

to me..Thanks again

I use ALA only.

This would really help us

The only metal that I know of that it is *probable* [altho not

definitive] that ALA does not address, is lead.

I don't know your specific question, but I do know that my kids do get

" mushy " bms while on chelator. Sometimes it is yeast, but not in the

past several months [they don't get yeast any more], now it *appears*

to be metals in their bm.

Generally it is okay to use just ALA. There are a number of

considerations, but usually just ALA is okay. Here is a list

of the considerations I can think of, but if you are already

giving ALA+DMSA, it is not like you are just deciding to use

ALA.

ALA is either not advised or should be used with some caution if:

1. person has HIGH (red) copper on a hair test

2. person has been exposed to mercury in the last 3 or so months.

(this includes being injected with thimerosal, or having amalgams

replaced)

3. the person is known to be high sulfur or reactive to high

sulfur foods. (In this case you would still use ALA but would

sulfur restrict the diet, and limit the ALA dose if needed.)

Also, if the person is high lead, then it is advisable to use

DMSA (since it is the best chelator for lead, and ALA won't

do this).

It is a little hard to really explain as there is not a single

simple answer to " which chelator should I use " . A lot of people

choose to use DMSA+ALA who could use ALA alone. Both are okay

choices, although ALA is better for your liver (and your

pocketbook).

best,

  • 1 year later...

How many rounds have you done?

We have done 60+ rounds here and we still have to fight yeast... We

switched from DMSA+ALA to ALA only around round #45.
