Guest guest
That's a gentle way to speak about the complex feelings a child could have towards a nada. What did your friends at school think about it? Glad you found that on YouTube and could reminisce. WTH > > From the moment I heard this line from Laverne & Shirley when I was 11, it has stayed with me all these years...Shirley says to her mother, " I know you love me, Mom; the trouble is, you don't LIKE me. And when you don't like me, it's very hard for me to like you. " > > I remember being in school the day after that episode aired and telling my friends, " you know, I love my mother, but I don't like her. " > > It's funny how that episode articulated what I was unable to say or what I wasn't really seeing at the time. It really struck a nerve. > > I bring it up b/c I found it on YouTube. Sigh. Brought back a lot of memories. >
Guest guest
I recently rewatched that episode too. It was great how open her mother was to hearing that and changing her behavior. Just like real life. NOT! That episode was very much about young adults learning to individuate, something nadas tend to fight with us about! > > From the moment I heard this line from Laverne & Shirley when I was 11, it has stayed with me all these years...Shirley says to her mother, " I know you love me, Mom; the trouble is, you don't LIKE me. Guest guest
My friends didn't really get it. They just listened. I really thought they would understand, so it felt really bad when I realized they didn't. > > > > From the moment I heard this line from Laverne & Shirley when I was 11, it has stayed with me all these years...Shirley says to her mother, " I know you love me, Mom; the trouble is, you don't LIKE me.
