Guest guest
Terry, check with your state insurance office. I live in Arizona, and it turns out they had a plan that covers all preexisting conditions, specifically for people like you, who are about to lose COBRA coverage. The payments are pretty reasonable. Just a thought. Marti
Guest guest
Terry: Medicaid is for those who meet certain low income criteria. Medicare is made available to those of us on SSDI after collecting benefits for just over two years. Part A (hospital only) is automatic whether we want it or not. If you choose to take Part B (medical) , the cost is decocted from the monthly check. As Part B offers no prescription coverage, I turned it down and continued to pay for my own private policy as allowed in New York State. Then a year and a half ago, Ed got a full-time engineering position that came with health insurance for both of us. Amazingly, it's with the same HMO that we already had making for a smooth transition. With health insurance regulations differing from state to state, that's all that I could tell you. -E
