Guest guest
Hi Grace, Put about a cup of baking soda in bath water and sit in that for 15-20 minutes. That should help with the sunburn until you can get to the doctor. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
Grace, Go to the doc. Take their advice and don't take the rest (well, they don't give you a choice on the bill). Best be safe. Guest guest
Grace I had to check to see which forum this came from. lol Go see the doctor. As diabetes we are prone to skin infections and sunburn can be very painful and dangerous even if you aren't diabetic. Are you on metformin? I've recently found that that metformin can make you more sensitive to the sun. Are you a memeber of any of the yahoo diabetes groups? There a few that are really good. I've found that diluted lavender oil in a bottle of water spritzed on the sunburn is good. One year my stupid X allowed out dd to get really badly sunburned, blisters and all, I applied diluted lavender on her and there are no scars. His then wife kept popping the blisters! arrgghh! How long have you been a diabetic? my question is a sunburn worse if you are diabetic then it would be if you werent. i got burned the other day. my fault fell asleep in the sun and now my leg swells and it looks like i an holding water. i know i should have gone to the doctor., but its bad enough i know i was stupid but i hate having them tell me i was. you know. thanks grace type 2 Carol(England) Type 2 Dx: 19 May 2004 Metformin 500mg x 3 Irbesartan 150mg a day ___________________________________________________________ How much free photo storage do you get? Guest guest
Many, many, many years ago the Young Ladies Sodality from my church spent a week camping. One of my girlfriends (a redhead) got a very bad sunburn. We were walking along the road and ran into a lady from the Red Cross (in our home town, no less!) who was a certified first aid teacher. Since we were miles from any where and no one had anything to treat it, she suggested making strong tea, two bags to a cup, let it cool to room temperature then wet rags, towels, or whatever you have and wring them out and place on the burned areas. It works wonders. Do not keep in fridge since that is too cold and a shock to the body. Kitty
Guest guest
Hi Grace, I am a certified Basic Life Support, CPR & First Aid Instructor. I would suggest only using cool compresses or a cool bath to soothe your sunburn until you can see your doctor. As you know, being a diabetic, you are easily prone to infection. Any type of ointment or home remedy to use as a " healer " could easily advance infection. Make sure you use cool/room temperature water and not cold. You have already been given the best advice from other members here, and that is to get to a doctor. I see that you have made an appointment. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Rhonda Y. ********************************************** Rhonda Yeager - Owner/BLS Instructor Absolutely Heartworthy CPR & First Aid Instruction 565 S.
