Love, Shirley > Dear Shirley, Gail, Kay, and all, I personally wish to thank each of your for sharing your information about the pancreatectomy and islet transfer surgery. You have each stepped forth and told your stories to the best of your ability and personal experiences in an effort to further educate the rest of us. This surgery has made a profound difference on the quality of your lives and I appreciate your desires to inform us of its success, especially when so many in the medical community won't speak of it because they just don't know enough about it. We are so very fortunate to have your imput available to us right here at this site! There have been many posts from members with so many problems and in so much pain, who have had multiple procedures done for relief, procedures which have failed, that I have refrained from answering with the hope that you, Shirley, or Gail, would step in again and tell your stories, explaining that this is an available option. It is a personal decision, of course, but I, for one, appreciate knowing about it and hope you will continue to tell your stories for all the uninformed. We hear too much about the stents, Whipple's, ERCP's, blocks, etc. etc., that fail, or that aren't working, or that need to be redone, that it is good to hear about your successes. And soon will be among those who have undergone this procedure, and I hope you, too, , will mend well and come back to share your experience with us. I hope you have a speedy recovery and an end to your trials and traumas with pancreatitis. We will all be waiting and praying for your good health. With hope and prayers, Heidi in SC
