Guest guest
I am hoping someone can help. Recently my sister-in-law was rushed to the hospital in desperate shape. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis. They felt it was brought on by alcohol abuse. She spent a week in the hosp. Right after she got out of emergency and was sent into her own room, she noticed she had extremely blurred vision (could only see vague shapes, color, or light--could not make out objects or people). The Drs attributed this to pain med. After about 3 days of this and no vision improvement, she insisted on an eye Dr. A specialist was called in and he said she had developed a rare condition resulting from the her pancreatic attack. It is called bilateral macular infarction. I can find no info on this connecting it to pancreatitis. They are not sure she will regain her sight or how well it may recover if it does. She is only 36 and has 2 young boys. If any can shed any light on this condition, I would be truly grateful. This is her first attack of pancreatitis and they believe no damage was done to the pancreas. Thanks
