Guest guest
Ok, here goes, and I know I'm gonna tick some people off before I even write this, but I'm going to write it anyway. Everybody's concerned about the low wages that are paid to EMS workers and is putting the blame all over the place. The truth is folks, the blame for low EMS wages rests directly with US. As long as we are willing to work for those wages, that's all anybody is going to pay us. Right in the middle of the discussion on wages is a message offering employment to medics for $10/hr. I'll say( and have said to prospective employers) that I wont even put on my black pants with all the pockets for that kind of money. Im worth more than that and just won't accept it. Unfortunately, there are people that will work for those wages. If we will all stand up and say NO, my education and training are worth more than that, we'll get more. When people can't hire medics for $10/hr, they'll pay more. As long as they are able to find medics that will work for those wages, that's all they will pay. Just in case anybody is wondering, yes, I am working full time as a medic, and yes, I DO make more than $10/hr because I refuse to accept those wages. Just my 2 cents worth.
