Guest guest
Just a quick Hurricane update. The outer bands of the hurricane have arrived in Harlingen. The wind picked up just a little and it has rained hard off and on. It will continue and it will likely get worse tonight. It looks like Brownsville will take a direct hit. We are about 20 miles north. The beaches are closed. We were able to get 6 sandbags from the city for our house. And 6 for each of our two rent houses. DH had gone at two different times yesterday trying to get the sandbags. Each time he went there was a line about 3 miles long. I'm not joking. I went with him today to check. The line was only about 1 mile long so we got in line. There were lots of young people there volunteering and filling the sandbags. I thought that was nice. There was no sign or T-shirts to tell what group they were with. They should have had something to tell us who to thank. City employees actually put them in your vehicle for you. They had 3 lanes and several vehicles in every lane getting sand. Man, they were organized and " gettin' r done " in record time! DH put up plywood on our two rent houses windows, but not ours. Go figure. A lot of businesses have put up plywood and not others. I just hope we can keep our electricity for the sake of air conditioning! It is hot and muggy out there. It has dropped about 15 degrees since it started raining, but it is so muggy you can't really enjoy the drop in temperature. It makes it hard to breathe. Talk to you later.
