Guest guest
This is the new release on Topopax from the FDA. Interesting but not at all surprising. http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/SAFETY/2003/topamax_dhcp.pdf
Guest guest
In the first ten minutes of speaking with Logan's first on call neuro at AMC, he said that Topamax SHOULD NOT be used with the diet. The Ortho-McNeil drug warning points out the acidosis issue. Remember that the diet induces ketoACIDODSIS, therefore combined with Topamax severe acidosis can develop. There is also considerable evidence of an increased incidence of kidney stones as a result of using Topamax. Kidney stones can also be a side effect of the diet due to underhydration. Our biggest concern about Topamax is the mounting evidence of the drug inducing respiratory arrest during seizures in Logan's case. Others have also voiced concerns that Topamax has caused the same problem with their kids during seizures.

I was SHOCKED. So I'm not sure what they will do. I expect we will come off quick. We are only on a very small dose. 125mg/day Jen
