,

I do not know what is safe and not safe exercise wise with Chiari. I do know

that fatigue and trouble walking are among my most consistent symptoms. Back

when I thought I was getting better, I was walking two miles a day at an

easy pace. Now, I'm riding an exercise bike with almost no resistance.

As for weight training and stretching, those sound alarm bells in my head. I

know some of it is safe at least when you've been decompressed. What I

recommend is going to a physical therapist who knows about Chiari and

getting a list of exercises. I don't want you to get your hopes up, though.

I've heard about 15 pound weight limits from people here. Personally, I

triggered all sorts of pain swapping out computer monitors.

You can't play around with ACM. Get professionals involved from the start.

Hi

I am not medically qualified, but this is what I understand. Please correct

me if anyone knows better.

You have various feedback mechanisms in your body (just like a thermostats

that turn on air conditioning or heating then its too hot or too cold)

As a diabetic, you have an inefficient feedback mechanism for getting rid of

blood sugar.

Exercise tells the body, (e.g. the liver) to " Send more sugar " . Thats fine.

you then burn sugar as you exercise. Then you stop. Then the problem is,

either you fail to send out the " get rid of sugar " (type I diabetes) or your

body fails to carry out the order (Type II diabetes).

Thats the short term picture.

However exercise has lots of long term benefits, some of which help ur body

manage sugar and be good for your heart (specially weight loss).

Regards,

Guy Lancaster
