It now has the voting record on HR 1350 listed alphabetically by state

instead of name of congressperson so you can see how your state reps

voted.

All the best,

Hi a & All,

We needed Nay. Now, the school board will throw all sorts of stuff

that many other parents had fought in the past for our child's

rights. Beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.

This kind of gives the school board to say " You are not welcome

here " or " We do not want to educate you " . Under this provision, a

student could be expelled for virtually anything. I think many of

the provisions in this bill are well-intentional. Some make sensible

improvements in the law and I appreciate the efforts the other side

made to acommodate our concerns. But, overall, the bill is

fundamentally flawed.

The current legislation, IDEA 1997, is appropriate and what is

really needed to carry out and enforce what we currently have. This

legislation is important to parents because it affirms that their

children's futures are protected during through their school years

and beyond. It gives added resonances to their quest for education,

which will empower their children when they grow up to function to

the maximum of their capabilities. I wish it was a good turn out

AGAINST H.R. 1350. Well, I hope Debbie Brown will share more info on

how we could change this vote that won. So that we can ensure that

our kids with special needs have the accomodations, the aides, the

qualified teachers, the curriculum, and the other areas needed to

receive a quality education. I hope this helped explain of why the

NAY vote.

a,

No you're not, you're not the only one with all this legal mumbo

jumbo stuff that goes over our heads. This is what the National

Education Association (NEA),would like us to believe when its

swiftly done under our noses. There is so much to learn, so I'm

right with you. We're in this together we all have enough to worry

about daily. This group helps us gain some control over our lives to

help each other out. We've relied on many professionals to

accommodate our child's needs. Unfortuantely, due to many issues we

encounter through the years, we've realized many professionals do

not have adequate training. If we can educate ourselves about our

children's conditions and special educational needs and approach our

dealings with the school board in an organized, professional manner,

we can be the best most effective advocates for our children, and

this is our primary goal.

Worked for me too this time a. Just goes to show you they don't really

care about an issue. All but one of our Dems voted nay, and all the repubs

voted yea. Can't any of them think for themselves?

We'll just continue getting educated on our political world to

continue writing to our Legislators for the funds and programs

needed and pray that they get educated on why we voice our concerns.

I agree that we should have a better IDEA, but until that time

arrives we have to do the best with what we have. Together we shall

find a way. Eh, too much to do & learn.
