Guest guest
, Tell me more about why Miranda had a gj tube placed. I hope she is doing well. G-J tube placement I just wanted to let you all know Miranda has her GJ tube placed today. She did give me a scare when they came out and said she was done, but that at one point she did stop breathing and had to be bagged! She did resume breathing then, but what a scare! She also has cellulitos on her toe. I knew something was up but wasnt sure what. She has a nervous habit of picking her toes and fingers. She is on Keflex for that now and I am told to return in 2 or 3 days if its not looking better. He also thinks she has pink eye and gave us a prescription for that........It never seems to end. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
Hi , The G-J tube is basically just to bypass the stomach all together. It has actually has seemed to give Miranda some relief from her pain. The gagging has greatly decreased and she has not complained once. Needless to say, I am thrilled. The tube itself goes in through the Gtube stoma and then has a long tube attached that is snaked into the jejunum in radiology or endoscopy. The one downfall with the J feedings is they have to be reasonably slower than G feeds can potentially be. But in our case we are actually now running faster with the J(75ml per hour and planning to increase as we know she is tolerating it) and she was only getting 60 ml per hour through the G due to all the gagging she was doing. She is scheduled next week to have a gastric emptying scan to see if emptying is the problem, but I really doubt it is. She just had a pyloroplasty done in July and she is taking Reglan. If there is anything else I can answer for you, please let me know. -- G-J tube placement I just wanted to let you all know Miranda has her GJ tube placed today.
