Guest guest
Hi Kitty, Glad you posted this morning. That reminded me to tell you that I saw the Brown Sugar/Splenda in Walmart the other day. 16 oz package was less than $4.00. I know you don't need it now, but keep this in mind. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
I checked the carbs on the Splenda brown sugar and I'm not sure it would be worth It. Reg brown sugar 1 tsp = 4 carbs/4 sugars, Splenda brown sugar 1/2 tsp = 2 carbs/2 sugars. Assuming that 1/2 tsp = 1 tsp in sugar taste is it worth it to spend that much extra to save 2 carbs in the morning? I can save those same 2 carbs by just not eating my crusts. Guest guest
Eunice, thanks. I really enjoy it on oatmeal. Brown Sugar/Splenda in Walmart the other day. 16 oz package was less than $4.00. Eunice
Guest guest
YES, it is worth it to me. Since I am a 58 yr old young widow who took care of my husband with cancer for 3 days less than 3 yrs, I will now do as I please. I will pay $6.00 a pound for Brown Sugar Splenda and enjoy every taste of it on my oatmeal. I have earned the right to have a little bit of enjoyment in my life without being made to feel guilty because I choose to splurge on myself with a $6.00 bag that will last me probably a year. Maybe some women get their manicures or pedicures, or their hair cut and colored in a salon. I don't. I do my own, even trim my own hair. So I guess I can afford this treat for me. Thank you to all the people on this list who are not spending their days looking at ways to make others feel bad for making a comment. I will never post again. Kitty in Tucson Thank you for pointing out the information to everyone that shows the comparisons. Guest guest
I didn't mean monitarily wise. Or not ONLY monetarily wise. As you can see from my post I did not mention the cost anywhere but the savings only in carbs. **oops I did say is it worth it to spend that much extra to save 2 carbs in the morning?** I am very new to T2 and truly want to know if a 2 gram difference is worth it. I have not been so restrcitive in my diet and need to know if I should be more restrictive. My Dr said between 45- 60 grams of carbs per meal and to shoot for 50. I didn't see that as a warning that I had to watch every single carb so that I would be concerned over a 2 carb difference between real and splenda. I was asking if I should be concerned. Uh, why the rankor? You seem to be attacking me for no more than asking a simple question? Or more like a simple 'newbie' question.
Guest guest
I have a high bed and we use bachelor chests instead of nite stands, they are the right height. Just for the info.. Tres Re: Type I or 2 - Brown Sugar Splenda/Kitty We have a new bed, and it's a high one with a queen size pillowtop mattress - about as soft as a conventional bed can be. No, I didn't do much comparison shopping because it seemed just right. Somehow my dawn effect is even worse some days with the new bed, and I also have the job of finding a night stand at least 28 " tall. Someone holler if you see one at a good price, please. ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Kitty, Please don't stop posting to the group. I also splurge on things that are important to me. I have spent $1400 on a treadmill that can support my large frame without breaking down and/or making the entire house shake! I also buy concentrated liquid Splenda for $39 a bottle, which is far more than you are spending. I am not rich by a long shot. I am a Stay-at-home mom with 4 children. I figure my expenditures now will pay off in medical savings in the future. Also, I have not been to ANY salon in YEARS. I cut my own hair. You have a right to spend your money how you see fit. I am sure they feel bad for offending you with their comments. They were probably only trying to help. Guest guest
Kitty, Your posts are important to us.. I am sure no offence was meant.. April is right we all spend on things that we have that are important to us.. remember what is important to one isn't to another. I wish I could cut my own hair but I wait till my grand daughter who is a hair stylist comes in town and she does it free (lucky me). I haven't had a manicure since I don't remember when. I drive a 10 year old car because it is still good and would take it anywhere and it doesn't bother me.. never worry about what other people think or do, it is a waste of time. It is your money and we only live once and can't take it with us, so enjoy what every you want. Hugs, Tres Re: Type I or 2 - Brown Sugar Splenda/Kitty I have earned the right to have a little bit of enjoyment in my life without being made to feel guilty because I choose to splurge on myself with a $6.00 bag that will last me probably a year. Guest guest
Might I add that my chests are 31 inches high and work perfectly. Also give you more drawer space. I am a retired Interior Designer and we have done this for years to get the needed height.
