Guest guest
I can understand your frustration, . I was unable to lose weight for 10 LONG years after the birth of my first child. My weight continued to climb instead of going down even though I was strenuously exercising (hours each day), had lowered my calories and cut the fat. After being told for years that I was causing myself to be fat, I finally discovered that two conditions led to my becoming obese, insulin resistance and high serum insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia). These two things made it near impossible for me to lose weight. I suspect that you have one or more of these conditions, which makes it so much harder to lose weight. I learned that all calories ARE NOT equal and fat does not necessarily turn into fat inside the body once you eat it. My whole thought process about losing weight was turned upside down. I was able to start losing weight by starting on a low carbohydrate regimen and strenuously exercising DAILY. With that regimen, I lost 15 lbs. After my weight loss stopped, I had to tweak my regime more during my day to assist with weight loss. Here is what I did: 1) Added Metformin and supplements to my regimen. Metformin reduces insulin resistance. 2) Walking/jogging on treadmill for 3 to 4 miles DAILY. Exercise lowers insulin resistance and serum insulin levels. Weight training is also great for lowering insulin resistance because it increases the amount Taking vinegar with my meals in order to slow the glucose entry into the blood stream. 3) Eat a SMALL dinner earlier in the evening with a severely reduced number of veggies low on the glycemic chart. 4) Eat a breakfast containing mainly fat and protein to keep insulin levels from going too high. 5) Drink 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar adding water to dilute before meals. Lowers the rate at which glucose enters the bloodstream. 6) Carbs saved for the middle of the day when my body is more able to deal with them. 7) Drinking lots of water! Your body will hold onto the weight if you don't. 8) Eating all carbs in the presence of fat. Fat reduces the rate at which glucose enters the blood stream. Also, increases satiety allowing you to be more satisfied with your meal. 9) Get more sleep. Less sleep equals an increase in insulin resistance. 10) Stay positive and NEVER give up! If you fall of the wagon, dust yourself off and get back on. 11) Save most carbs for lunch. Usually, they will be burned off during the day without adding to your weight. In 2003, I started reading about lower carbohydrate diets and why they work. I finally bought Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and read it cover to cover. Before becoming pregnant, I lost 11 lbs on a lower carbohydrate regime combined with treadmilling daily. I had another baby in August 2004. I continued to try to lose weight after giving birth, but I only lost 5 more pounds. In March 2005, I discovered that I had diabetes. After I lowered my blood sugar, I still was only able to lose 2 lbs and my weight was going up and down. I started taking supplements to help with lowering my blood sugar and also walked/jogged 5 miles daily. Even though my blood sugar was much better, I still was not losing weight. Finally, I started taking Metformin. With Metformin, supplements, and exercise, my weight dropped from 246 to 233 in 5 weeks from April to May! Then the weight loss slowed down, so I had to find other things to help continue with weight loss. I have since stopped eating carbs later in the day, I have continued to lose at a pace of about a pound or more a week. My current weight is 220, down from my highest weight of over 260 lbs. Believe me, it can be done. It's not going to be easy, but you can be successful. Have any more questions? Email me privately. Good luck, and I wish you weight loss success. April in GA Re: Re:Cut the weight Hi April, can you tell me what you have been doing to lose the weight. It has been impossible for me to lose, and I'm doing everything I think I'm supposed to be. It's very very frustrating!! M.
