Guest guest
Hi all :-) I have tried for SO long to just ignore this little issue but am curious to know if there is any other kiddo's out there dealing with this and/or if anyone has any ideas. Basically, for as long as Chance (9 1/2) has been potty trained, we continue to have to change pants/underwear once every day or two consistently. Its almost always a result of laughing, which he tends to do hard and even mostly inappropriatly (there is no chuckle in this kid, he's either belly laughing or nothing). So the scenario is this......EVERY time he laughs he " holds himself " trying not to go, and atleast once every day or two, he fails and wets his pants. Half the time its a near complete evacuation, half the time its a small amount. Some days, its happens 3 or 4 times. There's nothing like seeing your child happy and laughing and have to immediatly tell them to go to the bathroom before they wet themselves. Sort of kills the mood!!! We DO direct him in that direction every time and its the only reason we're not changing pants numerous times a day. He always has to have a change of clothes with him wherever he goes just in case, and it happens in all different kinds of places. Interestingly, the ped put him on an anti-spasmondic med in December because they suspected his stomach pain was Irritable Bowel and that this might have also been the cause of him refluxing. In reading through the information on the med, it mentioned it was also used for bladder spasms too and we actually wondered at the time if it would make any difference with this issue for him. They had him take it 3 times a day for one month and then we are to give it to him " as needed " for pain. Sure enough, the wetting DID get better while on it!!! And sure enough, now that he's not taking it daily, we're back to wetting regularly. The obvious thing to do would be to keep him on the med, however some of the side effects are not at all desirable and even dangerous, so taking it daily is likely not an option. So, are there any others out there dealing with this, is it all that abnormal for a boy, and do ya think maybe I need to address this finally, especially considering the positive reaction to the med????? Thanks for any feedback friends!!! BIG hugs, Kass, proud mom to Chance(9), Madison(6) and Abby(5 tomorrow!!)
