Guest guest
My son is on Trileptal and on the diet-3.5 to 1 for 2 yrs this week. We added it because we couldn't get rid of the night seizures. Works well for with no noticeable side effects. He's 14. We give him 600mg before bed. Nothing in the morning. Guest guest
We are using trileptal the same way as Bob, giving a small dose at night only for sleep seizures. Trileptal is similar to tegretal but is suppose to have less side effects. It binds differently in the blood then tegretol. I can't remember the difference but if you did a Google search on it you could find some articles telling the difference between the two. Our daughter use to be on tegretol but we switched to the trileptal because of having less side effects. If loaded into the body too quickly it can cause a rash resulting in the drug needing to be stopped. This happened to our daugther when she was taking " therapeutic " amounts of tegretol. Pre diet she was experiencing break through seizures and they switched immediately from the tegretol to the " therapeutic " dose of trileptal. She broke out in a rash and it had to be weaned fairly quickly. She now is 8 years old, weighs 53 lb., and we give her only 225mg trileptal ( " therapeutic " is 500mg twice a day) at night and it works (along with the diet). We've had no problems with a rash. Rhonda CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME ABOUTTHIS DRUG. I COULD have the spelling wrong,,,it is in the tregtal family
