The feelings of exhaustion/tired/etc are fairly common from around day 3 thru day 6 or 7 of your first week on the SBD. I've found an increase in protein intake tends to help stave it off a bit and it usually clears up after the first week. Of course, they could also be a symptom of something else so you'll want to watch that -- what are you on the heart meds for? I have congestive heart failure (CHF) and take a beta blocker (coreg), angiotensin receptor blocker (or ARB) (Cozaar) and of course a diuretic (furosemide aka lasix). The coreg is the one that takes it outta ya though. Clinicals show its effectiveness in CHF but some of the side effects. <Sigh> I was hit with a double whammy -- weight issues and depression. Things became much worse with the depression after I had my pacer put in but I also realized what was going on about 6 months after the implant so I've been actively combatting it. A common symptom of CHF is exhaustion, weakness, and so forth. Makes sense -- if the heart isn't functioning to capacity, all sorts of things slow down in the body. I find that when I get too much sodium or too much water I end up short of breath and tired. Same goes for when I overeat at a meal -- a big, heavy meal every so often is a good thing but it does tax the body a bit. Stress can also take it out of me. Lots of triggers for us CHFers to make us tired!
