Guest guest
HI - dragging an oldish post out the archives here, hoping you can help me.... I think I read in another post that your endo appt was about now? Wondered if you had the results of the bone age x-ray yet, or other bloods, and whether you are going to go ahead with the growth hormone shots. had his GH tested when he was an inpatient a few weeks ago, but apparently there was insufficient blood taken for the test - so no result, has to be retested. Grr. His bone age x-ray (done 3 weeks ago at the same time) has come back as nearly 2 yrs behind his chronological age (gulp), so they are arranging a retest for GH, then I guess we wait for someone to tell us if this could simply (!) be diet related. I am suspecting not, (poss aggravated by tho) as bone age was done a yr before he started the diet, (so 3 yrs ago now) and he was already 9 mths behind chronological age back then, despite being 90-95th percentile for height. Also wondered - Do you see any sort of abnormal fat distribution?(ie excess round face/tummy), and whether cortisol levels have ever been checked. This abnormal distribution was apparent with way before the diet, actually it started showing about 3 mths before his first seizure at age 3 and a half (he is now nearly 7), so as you can imagine - brain working overtime here tyring to put it all together.. Copying this to your private email as well, hope that's ok, but I don't think you are reading keto all the time, and wanted to catch you while I can so I can get a heads up maybe before our next endo discussion Thanx, PS - My dietican tells me that she thinks the down side to the GH shots whilst on the diet would be that they raise glucose levels, which obviously would be a bit of a problem with ketones, esp with , as his glucose is already too high. > > Have you done anything beyond the first level of > > screening? Guest guest
Hi , Got 's IgF result, and as expected, it was low. Ref range for 6 yr olds is 88-474, his is 51 Endo taking a 'wait and see' approach, wanting to retest in a few months after a follow up dexa scan to see if his fat/mass distribution has improved. Same goes for cortisol, he said he is going to do a 24 hr urine to see what is going on there, whether related etc. Not happy with this, I am so not a wait and see type person, but - he also said that in his opinion both tests should be done after has been taken off the diet for a month to make sure the results are not being affected by it. Er, not happy with this either, so trying to decide our next move. No recommendation for a follow up MRI was forthcoming, will be emailing our neuro next week to see if he thinks one is warranted,
