I was widowed long before my friend wMS, Edna, was.As it happened, after a few years I sold my house neededa place (back in the days when this made sense) whenEdna and her husband, Elwood, said, "We have a wholefloor upstairs, with bathroom--large and large bedroom, and no one is using it." So Elwood and I re-painted it,re-did the floors, and I moved in. . . for nearly a year. Then the agency for which I was working collapsedand died, and I got busy on my computer (one of myearlier Gateways) and got and interview with a greatmental health clinic in Eastern Oregon, and I acceptedthe job--sent resume, photos, etc.As I was doing this, Elwood came by my desk and watchedme pulling up links like mad and said: "I had had no

ideathat it was like an encyclopedia, or even a library!" So, Iexplained what a "link" (to the world wide web, www.) was,and he was the first to dub me a "Link Lady." I spend a fairamount of time sending Links to people, so more than oneperson on each group or list has dubbed me "The LinkLady," but Edna's husband, who lived much longer thandid mine, was the first to coin the term for me.Of course, as Edna has observed (she does not toucha computer), it would not be that I have any intellectualcuriosity, nor that Edna ever calls to ask me a question, nor that any of the grandchildren do. . . .or. . . . .it just could be the MS brain at work!n
