Guest guest
Hi Tita, I had surgery with Dr. English, too! My surgery was June 11th. I have a little trouble getting in the water also. When I try to drink enough, I feel sloushing inmy tummy and makes my walks difficult. Plus, living in Miami means mall- walking. Heat index is 104. I just had a follow-up with Dr. English ( what a cutie!) and I got my staples (20) taken out. That made a huge difference. Can't get down most solids, a half of an egg feels like rocks in my throat. So, I start each morning with a double batch of protein shake in milk : 23g + 23g + 12g from the milk = 58g , then in the afternoon do a single batch of the protein shake to bring me in over the required 80 grams, then " eat " whatever - usually popsicles and Splenda sweetened Kool-aid or water if I am going out. The shakes are much better if you add crushed ice in the blender. I average between 600-700 calories a day, with marginal fat and carbs, so I am surprised I am not losing faster. I only started my daily walks after the staples came out, on the 24th. Did I mention how cute I think Dr. English is??? Guest guest
No. That was Tita's information. I have gone from 283 to 259.5, but fluctuate up to 262. I weighed 270 the day after I got home and then dropped to 265 three days later, then dropped again to 260 by the end of the week. I am two days into week three with no more loss. Guest guest
The restaurant card can be found on the GBS information page. Here's alink to the printable card: http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/RestaurantCards.html As for the amount of weight loss, the way my doctor explained it was, the goal of the GBS is to lose 80% of your EXCESS body weight. The goal isn't to put you in your " normal " weight percentage. > a few days ago a few of you > were talking about a card you have that states you have had gastric > bypass surgery and asks that you be allowed to purchase a child's > sized portion at a restruant...well where did you all get such a > card? Guest guest
I got mine from my surgeon. -- Question about card? Hi everyone. Well I got on the scale again today, I'm down another 5 and 1/2 lbs. since Wednesday when I saw my surgeon for my 8 month check up. That's a total of 136 and 1/2 I've lost so far. I'm so happy!!! I was alittle upset when I saw him though. He asked me what my goal weight was, when I told him 135-140 he said " NO WAY!!! NOT FOR YOU! " He then said he was thinking more like 160 or 170. I looked at his charts in his office, they say for a women of 5'4'' I should weigh 131, why is he freaking? I told him absolutely not, 160- 170 was not good enough for me. He said he would accept 150 but I better not let myself get any lower than that because it would not be healthy for me. I was so bummed out about this. I doubt I could ever get down to 135-140 anyway but it was nice to have that goal ya know. And when I first started this whole WLS stuff with this doc he said that weight was do-able. Why all of a sudden the change? Anyway, I have a question for you all, a few days ago a few of you were talking about a card you have that states you have had gastric bypass surgery and asks that you be allowed to purchase a child's sized portion at a restruant...well where did you all get such a card? I've never heard of such a thing but I think it would come in handy when I go away next month to a religious convention in Massachucetts (sp?). We have to eat all our meals out and it can get quite expensive especially when you have to pay for a huge plate that you are only going to eat four bites of. I know myself and I'm more likely to go the whole four days of the convention without eating hardly at all instead of spending all that money on wasted food. I've thought about just ordering an appetizer for dinner, something small but it's usually fried and I can't do fried stuff. Anyway, if you could tell me about the card that would be great. Thanks.
