Guest guest Posted January 30, 2004 Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 How long has it been since Elton came home? We have seen a lot of changes since we moved here in 1986. There was only one traffic light here then......now we have eight. Something is in the works for our community right now. Five new banks are being built, as we speak. Hmm, that could only mean that more growth is expected. Rumor has it that a semi-conductor plant is eyeing our area. They have been looking at the area around Shoal River to build. They say if that happens, a whole new "city" would be built to accommodate the plant. This is really exciting stuff for this community because there aren't many good jobs in Crestview. Young people tend to leave because there just isn't anything here for them to do. Have to wait and see what happens. My son and his girlfriend are staying with us right now because they were having a hard time making ends meet. But.......hopefully things will change. started a new job this week in the aerospace industry. Pay is still under standards, no union to fight for pay increases, but there will be room to advance, which is good. I really wish would go to the community college but he's not interested. Damn it. Kids!!! What are ya gonna do. Karol ~Karol Elton moved up here 15 years ago. His mom died about 5 years ago. He still has aunts and uncles down there. His sister moved to N.Carolina about 2 years ago. He always said there wasn't much for jobs down there and that the pay was low. He worked at some chicken plant for a few years and hated it. He's from Crestview and use to play pro basketball. He is his sisters step-son. Or something like that! I think he races cars now. Not sure. Can't have them here because it's to hot....they won't grow here. They do smell good, don't they. I used to bring big bunches of them in the house when we lived in NJ and it would smell up the whole house. Wisteria smell real nice but not as good as lilacs.
