We haven't ventured too far into candyterritory, and I'm unsure of what toddler-friendly candies are safe forhim. Guest guest
I use marshmallows for my 2yo potty training boy. Another idea is Smarties. I was thrilled to read the allergen statement on the package I just purchased. It states: Smarties contain none of the following common allergens: Gluten (from wheat, barley, oats and rye), soybeans, milk, eggs, peanuts, nuts, seeds, fish, shellfish, or mollusks. Guest guest
There are some festive Pumpkin Patch M & Ms out right now, and Star Wars M & Ms that are dark chocolate - though I didn't check that label yet for gf status. My Star Wars-crazy son is not celiac. Guest guest
Hi, I went to delphi forums just to double check. All m & m's are gluten free EXCEPT CRISPY M & M'S. Here's the link.... You might find the list useful for other candy!! http://forums.delphiforums.com/celiac/messages/?start=Start+Reading+%3E%3E Here's the post on candy......M & M Mars (Master Foods) (http://www.m-ms.com/cai) () (vp=1-19-04) In the USA all sizes of the following are GF: Snickers, Snickers Munch, Snickers Almond, Skittles bite size, Starburst, Dove, 3Musketeers, MilkyWay Midnight (all other MilkyWay's are not GF), all M & M’s except Crispy. M & M Mars will clearly list wheat and barley in the products. The rep said they did not use oats or rye in the candy products. Guest guest
Hi back, Yes, regular M & Ms are gf. I believe all of them are EXCEPT the M & M crispies. I, too, used M & Ms as a potty training tool and my kids are 19 & 17. LOL. Donna in Littleton CO RE: M & Ms Hi - does anyone happen to know whether regular M & Ms are gluten-free? Guest guest
PS - Do you remember the old M & Ms slogan? Melts in your mouth, not in your hand? It's a lie! Just test it on your toddler. Donna RE: M & Ms Hi - does anyone happen to know whether regular M & Ms are gluten-free? Irecall reading somewhere that they are, but wanted to make sure. Guest guest
We have never had problems with regular M & M's but we have had reactions to the special holiday ones. My 3 children, my husband and myself are all Celiac and we all reacted to the white & pink valentine's day ones and the crazy black and white ones that were out a few years ago. We stay away from any that aren't the " regular " M & M's. None of us react to food color so I don't think that was the problem. Guest guest
Shoot, forget potty training! I use peanut M & M's as a daily coping mechanism On Mon, 26 Sep 2005 10:34:40 -0600, Donna DeVisser wrote > Hi back, > > Yes, regular M & Ms are gf. Guest guest
I had to LOL at this one! My DD is 2 1/2 and I still haven't started! She goes through phases where she is so interested, and even goes peepee in the potty. But then she loses interest again. I am so not interested in doing potty training! So much easier to change a diaper than clean up an accident! One of these days. ) And at least now I know I can use m & ms! Guest guest
If it makes you feel better, I've been trying with my son since he turned two...then I gave up after he was diagnosed, I wanted to concentrate on one big change at a time....then started again last Christmas. It started out well, but then he lost interest...and we tried on and off until this summer when finally something clicked and in a matter of 2 1/2 weeks he was fully trained pee and poop on the potty...and now we just have accidents when he can't make it on time to the bathroom...but those are rare. My son is now 3 1/2, we just didn't make a big deal about it. I knew he wouldn't go to his prom in pull-ups. ________________________________ From: SillyYaks on behalf of tverzosa@...
