Guest guest
Hi , Welcome, my friend. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this illness, but I'm happy you have found us. Did you have pancreatitis before the ERCP [shiver, shiver]? After my first one in 93 I didn't leave the hospital for 6 weeks! I'm glad you got out of there when you were able! Now, about the questions about constipation, that has never, ever been a problem for me. Since I've started taking the morphine my diahhrea seems to be some better. I'm not sure what to advice you, so I won't. There are so many smart, caring, supportive people here, and I know someone will be able to help you, thats for sure! What neck of the woods are you in? Good Luck my friend, and it has been nice meeting you! Hope to talk to you again soon. Lots of Hugs, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lawson Liamhoha20@... Pancreatitis Assoc., Int'l. Spent almost 2 weeks in there--pretty painful! Question: How do you all deal with the constipation from the narcotic pain meds? Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome LInda. I am from Western Pennsylvania--had the ERCP done at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Did not have pancreatitis before this (that we know of). I had my gallbladder out about 5 years ago (laparoscope) without any problems at all. Then last year, I started having some painful " gallbladder " attacks. Those went away but then I started having periods of time with clay-colored stools. The last one lasted about 3 weeks. Not much pain, but an uncomfortable feeling of fullness under the right ribcage. It was decided that something was keeping the bile from getting into the intestines, so an ERCP was indicated before I developed liver problems. My doctor believed in putting you under since he felt it was painful when they measured pressures, etc. So next thing I remember is waking in the recovery room and them telling me my pressures were very high so they had to do a sphincterotomy. The rest is history. Where in Ohio are you located? Shaver <<What neck of the woods are you in? Guest guest
Hi , Ah your welcome, my friend. Wow! I'm so sorry you are having this much trouble. So, did you get any better after they did the sphincterotomy? I had the first done in 95 by Dr. Lehman at IU and I did really well until Dec. 99, and went back to IU in Jan/2000 and he did the last ERCP [shiver, shiver] that I'll ever have. The pressures were really high, again, even though he had already cut the ducts in 95. I had some scar tissue, and he cut both ducts as far as they can be cut. And I've been sick ever since! No lie, this has been the hardest 2 yrs. since I got sick in 93. I hate it! I hate it all! Oh, sorry, got a bit dramatic there. lol Oh, I'm in Springfield, Ohio. Almost smack in the middle between Dayton & Columbus. A bit closer to Dayton. Its not much of a town, but I love it anyways. Thanks for your story. I just wish you didn't have this dreaded, awful illness & wouldn't have to tell it! Talk to you again soon, I'm sure. Lots of Hugs, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lawson Liamhoha20@...
