Guest guest
Help! I need some input here from those of you who have gone through frizium/clob. wean. We have been going verrrrry slowly with the last 1/4 tab. and three weeks ago finally stopped entirely( at about 1/18th of a pill!) We thought things were going fairly well for a few days with only one grand mal.......four days later she started withdrawl.major! I suspected something in the morning of the fourth day when she was overly sensitive and cried more easily than normal.she was extremely hyper senstive to everything. That night she seizured most of the night off and on. She also had night terrors and movement disorders(constantly moving her limbs) She hasn't slept well since which has me worried and I have to admit I've thought about giving back some of her frizium......however if I know this is normal I'm willing to stick this out longer.......She is fine duriing the day although she is tired, she is quite a trooper. No daytime seizures for which I am very grateful. anyway would appreciate some input here since our dietician/neurologist aren't on the same page on withdrawls.....they would definitely suggest more meds......since she was fine before the final drop I think this is withdrawl but when will it end...........???? Guest guest
Hi Laverna, My guess would be that this is still withdrawal related, the last being the hardest to go I think. Lots to maybe come 'out' from being stored in fatty tissues etc. Until all traces are gone (and I think it is approx 30 days on blood serum tests before the level drops to zilch), from blood, brain, liver and fat stores, the natural GABA level won't be reverting to it's natural state - so there will still be neuron excitation until the GABA is at adequate levels. So it is possibly a matter of wait, wait, wait still. Some discussion on the benzo list a while ago about this - there were somne thoughts of actually encouraging fat burning through excercise and weight loss, to try and speed up the 'detox' process from fatty stores, but no definite conclusions were reached I don't think, as to whether this works in practise or not. All the signs with Rebekah seem to be withdrawal related, insommnia, muscle spasms, hypersensitivity, seizures etc, so while all that is still going on, I think you can safely say she is still feeling the wean. You could try a 24-48 hr period of regular benzo (diaz, ativan) to try an stop the cycle, but most papers written by Prof Ashton seem to say this isn't recommended as far as curing the 'addiction' goes. However - the seizure side that our kids have to deal with as well, tells me that we sometimes have to alter the 'rules' somehow to fit them into the withdrawal schedules most would recommend. frizium/clobazam wean > Help! Guest guest
Hi Would supplementing with GABA for a short period help? Guest guest
The same discussion on the benzo list brought the GABA issue up as well Jill Again - controversy (like the fat burning theory to speed up the tissue detox) in the discussion as to how effective it would be - ie - whether supplementary GABA crosses the blood brain barrier. We have never tried GABA with - a reluctance to introduce anything new more than anything here I guess. Some on this list have though I think? ----- Original Message ----- > Hi > Would supplementing with GABA for a short period help? > Jill > > > At 07:48 AM 7/16/03, you wrote: > >Hi Laverna, > >My guess would be that this is still withdrawal related, the last being the > >hardest to go I think. Guest guest
, Thanks for the helpful information once again. I'm staying away from ativan and diastat since Rebekah went into full blown seizures last time......we'll just sit this one out.......soon the light will come........this is a tough one though. Helps helping feed back reassuring me that we are still experiencing withdrawl and not something we did wrong........ LaVerna frizium/clobazam wean > Help!
