Dr. Burt Berkson who has the FDA investigative license to use intravenious

ALA on liver patients told me that Metabolic Maintenance is a good brand. I am

sure Kirkmans is also. What he said is that alot of other brands (don't know

which ones specifically) have fillers or are of pure quality. I am sure there

are other good brands out there but these are the two I stick with because of

his recommendation.

I cannot give the definitive " best brand " but I use Kirkman Labs and

have seen positive gains during the 6 rounds we have done.

Here is my experience--

I bought LifeTime ALA from the HFS. I chose this brand since it

had the least amount of other things in it and seemed like my son

would tolerate it. It has been working fine. I did buy the Kirkman

hypoallergenic product at some point since the write up said it was

much better for some reason...can remember right now. Their

" hypoallergenic " capsule is 50mg and for some reason contains

menthol. The Kirkman product made my son constantly pick his

nose (probably allergic to the menthol...figures). I switched back

to the LifeTime brand and the picking went away within 24 hours.

If you are opening the capsules then Kirkmans is better. ALA burns when you

swallow it in powder form. Kirkmans does something so it doesnt burn. I tried

both on myself.

I always ask for pharmacuetical quality vitamins and supplements when I buy

them at the HFS. They cost more but the quality and purity is best, or so I'm

told.

Sorry - Health Food Store. Although, they're such a ripp off usually, I've

been getting supplements on line for a lot less.

I use Natural Factors from my health food store. It contains ALA

only, no additives/fillers. It has worked very well for us.
