Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I am sorry to hear about your struggles to

become pg. I wanted to reply because I was SU and I do tend to

believe what your dr is saying about a septum preventing fertility by

impairing early implantation.

I found out that I had an anomaly when I m/c at 12 wks in Dec 01.

Based on my HSG results, my ob told me I was BU...WRONG. I later

found a dr that did the lap/hys and told me that I was SU and he

resected it at that time. After my first af, I had a followup HSG

and found that the septum was still there and needed a 2nd surgery.

It was successful. It had taken us awhile to get pg the first time,

so my RE that did the 2nd surgery wanted to be aggressive. I did

meds/IUI and on the 6th cycle got pg. I had a dd in Oct 2002.

My RE was like your dr and thought that septa could be responsible

for a pg not happening. I am inclined to believe this theory

especially when people like yourself that have no identifiable cause

are having trouble getting a +++ even with 3 very promising IVF

attemts.

I agree that the BU should not be operated on unless you have had

several m/c. And if it is a SU, the surgery is very simple. There

are a few women here that the SU was very muscular and vascular and

it is not recommended to resect those. They have had successful pg.

I wish you tons of luck with your appts. Let us know how we can help

you, esp. if you have any questions as you get your diagnosis. I'm

hoping that you get some answers soon and find yourself pg!!

There are lots of pictures of the beautiful babies born to women with

BU, SU and SU resected in the photos folder. Take a look for

inspiration.

Good luck,

Sara, 36

SU resected x2, dd (10/2/2003)

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post and shared your

stories! Well, I know now that I am not alone and my doctors are not

alone in their thinking.

I will keep you updated on the verdict on my uterus, whether BU or

SU and if a resection is in the future for me.

In the meantime, good luck to you all in the various stages of your

journeys!
