DMSA does bind with mercury and excete it from the body. It does so only from

the blood and soft tissue, while EDTA which also crosses the blood brain barrier

chelates out the blood, soft tissue and bones. Mercury is at the top of the EDTA

affinity chart, but it is also an excellent chelator of lead.

I know several of you use ALA alone as a chelator. Please help me understand

how this works. I know ALA is supposed to cross the BBB but what then binds

with it and excretes it out of the body. Isn't that what the DMSA is used

for? Thanks for any explanation.

the ALA excretes it out of the body.

they work similarly---- but the DMSA never crosses the BBB

to get the stuff in the brain to begin with.

neither one binds tightly---- but there is no special reason

for ALA to drop the mercury when it gets it in the body.

In my family's experience, the ALA alone does a good job of removing

the mercury. I use vitamin C and/or selenium to clear out

free-floating metals in the blood, that helps also.

pd?? Thanks

I started my son with 25 mg, he weighed about 50 pounds at the time.

I gradually increased it as he tolerated each higher dose.

We used both but you can use ala only, just dose it every three hours on AC

protocol and dose it by his weight. 1/8 mg per pound to start. The top end is

1/2mg per pound.

It will work.

What the DAN recommended would make me very sick. Many doctors do not realize

ala is a mercury chelator, so their recommendations apply as a supplement,

however, for someone with mercury....it would be a bad thing to do. I have found

ala to be very powerful and will create side effect if taken in high dose

infrequently. Even if I am late with my low doses of ala, I will get side

effects. I can't imagine taking that much and so far apart in timing.

I did, for four children and myself.

Yes

Not in my opinion.

ALA will chelate, because that's what it does. It does not matter what are YOUR

[or the doctor's] intentions for it.

We are chelating with ALA alone and seeing progress after only 3 rounds. We use

the low frequent dosing per Andy Cutler.

You can't give ALA as a nutritional supplement and NOT chelate. It doesn't have

a choice, it is not animate. It chemically does what it does in the body. You

can't " tell " it what to do. Research every supplement you give, you can't go on

what anyone tells you about any supplement, and only you know your child's

unique situation.

DAN's are not Gods. Many (not all), do not understand how to safely approach

chelation. Most want to do challenge tests, too, which are dangerous and harmful

to many. Andy has many posts about how you should really educate yourself on how

these things work, and how trusting one doctor most likely got you here, now

blindly trusting another doctor may make things worse. Ask any DAN for results -

number of kids who lost diagnosis, number who got worse, number who " showed

improvement " . Ask around from other parents about the DAN. For the money they

charge we should expect nothing but the best care - but that is not always the

case.

We nearly got burnt by a bad DAN. Fortunately, I was reading A-M and did not go

too far down that path. I got here because I was following what the parents of

recovered kids were saying. The vast majority said AC chelation was the biggest

piece. Not the only piece, but the one that had lasting and signifcant and all

around results that addressed the root of many other issues. I met a mom in my

area with a recovered son and asked her about AC chelation - her response: " THAT

was THE thing that recovered my kid - other things helped, but the supps and

therapies worked when we finally got all the crap out of him. "

The parents (most of them) have no motive (ego/$$) to steer other parents wrong.

For the parents, the well being of our kids is OUR LIFE.

For a physician, even a DAN - at the end of the day, no matter how

committed...it is still a job and they can go home. Parents can't ever 'take a

day off', or 'go home' at the end of the day.

Is it a pain to get up every 3-4 hours? Yeah - and well... so what? If I had to

get up throughout the night to give my kid a medicine that would save his life,

I would. I don't think this is any different. I got up at night to feed him as a

newborn. And at least now he does sleep on the nights off round!

It will be even MORE of a pain if your child never gets better, or even gets

worse from incorrect use of ALA.

ALA on AC protocol WORKS.

You should post this on the CK2 group. So many people in that group think DAN!s

are God.

Good thing I'm not on that group! You may post it if you want.

I know there ARE good DAN doctors out there, somewhere. That hasn't been my

experience so far. Our last one wanted to:

- vaccinate my child - why? " he's a boy, he should have a tetanus shot "

- do provocation/neutralization allergy treatments (needles!) - my son has

MEDICALLY induced PTSD,

-do a challenge test

-and did sell me supplements with ingredients my son was known to be allergic

to. Twice. The replacements he sold me ALSO had the same allergen (soy) in them.

We literally walked out. I'm not paying thousands of dollars to someone who

harms my child, and knows less about recovering him than I do. Dealing with all

this is difficult enough. Why make it more complicated and expensive than it has

to be? Just like some (most of) pharma and mainstream medicine, there are DAN's

out there whistling all the way to the bank - money made off our kids getting

injured AGAIN. I just reached a point where NO ONE was going to do ANY MORE harm

to this kid under the guise of 'helping' him, and I sure am NOT going to pay

someone for it.

Why is that so radical?

----->Amen!!!! That is sooooooooo often the truth!!!!!!

------>That is soooooo unconscionable, but it is so often true! It has been our

experience to have that happen....not only for our " special kids "

but for our whole family...

I just reached a point where NO ONE was going to do ANY MORE harm to this kid

what being a Mom is all about!!

------> Cuz you are thinking outside the box. Stepping on " the wisdom " of

those with the letters MD after their names....but whose heart is often only on

their checkbook. And scaring the everliving outta the big Pharma!!!

Bring it on!!! Lets get radical!!
