Guest guest
This is my first time posting a message. I learned about this board from doing many searches on google and I've been reading messages for weeks. WOW, am I glad I found this support site! My name is Jen and I have a septate uterus. This was diagnosed before pregnancy and my husband and I had no difficulty conceiving. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Emma Rose at 34 wks. (6 weeks early) in Dec. 02 and she was 3 lbs. 11 oz. She wasbreathing on her own & spent just 10 days in the NICU & was sent home weighing just 3 lbs. 13 oz. Today she's a 16 month old toddler and perfectly healthy and on target with all her development. We feel so gratelful she is OK. I had an easy pregnancy and the baby was on my right side the whole pg. My OB knew this and I was monitored closely. My labor and delivery was the scariest experience I ever had. I bled and the baby came within 3 hours. Thank goodness I was at home and close to the hospital. It was not at all how I thought it would be. We believe the baby ran out of room and the placenta tore, caused the uterus to contract and I delivered very fast. I had difficulty delivering the placenta and it had to be surgically removed. The baby was small for 34 weeks but her lungs were just developed so we were fortunate. I swore that I was done with having babies after that experience. In fact, I gave away all my maternity clothes! We felt so blessed and knew the risks of having a SU. But now (I know many of you can relate) I am considering having another baby and know I should have the surgical procedure. My docs in NY also recommended I have it with my history. Is it called hys/lap? I have an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist next week (we just moved to Cincinnati and I have the name of a really good practice here), I have all my records, an MRI & CT to bring and I'm nervous and full of questions. Maybe some of you can answer a few of them? - is the procedure usually covered by insurance? - has anyone had a similar situation as I did? Did you have a preemie and then a full term baby after the septum was removed? - was the procedure painful? Was it successful? Thanks so much for any info and insight. Take care!
