RE: Taking mineral supplements while chelating

I just purchased three bottles of DMSA pills through my very alternative

medicine oriented Doctor. The pills are actually not prescription but

are under the brand name Thorne and are called " Captomer Dietary

Supplement. " They are 65 mg capsules. I hope this particular

nonprescription brand is as potent as the prescription brands? Would

anyone know about that?

Also my Doctor informs me that on the days I am chelating I should not

take any supplements with MINERALS in them such as magnesium, zinc, etc.

because the DMSA would be inclined to grab the minerals and grab less

mercury. I haven't read any advice like that on this group or in Andy's

Book. Is there anything to it? Was my Doctor well-educated on this

subject or not?

Also I have read that fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury. In my

quest to have an energy efficient household, all of my lighting is

fluorescent including the reading lamp that is very close to my head.

If you don't actually break the fluorescent bulbs is there any danger of

mercury contamination from them?

You can search the files section and the archived messages for

confirmation, but I think Andy recommends taking minerals on AND off

days.

This is incorrect.

No.

Physicians don't seem to think a good education includes knowing enough

chemistry to do competitive equilibrium calculations, pore over urine

tests of chelated and unchelated patients to do a mass balance, etc. so

he does qualify as well educated by physician standards. He is still

incorrect.

Yes, and a lot of people feel really horrible if they skip.

is correct. Just MAKE SURE they don't get broken.

yes, it is fine. If you care to read about the types available,

see:

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_buy_DMSA.html

Check the label too--- it may really count as 100 mg rather

than 65. I know that the DMSA from VRP says it is 100 mg

capsule but 65 mg of succinic (sp?) acid, and people commonly

post to ask whether to go by the 100 mg or the 65 mg (and

the answer is " 100 mg). Confusing huh?

By the way (and I am NOT trying to pick on you!) please when

replying to a " daily digest " take care not to include the

entire digest in your " reply " . (Many email readers will append

the whole thing.) It is a pain to have all that text hanging

around. (Thanks.)

good wishes,

Moria
