BREAKSTONE'S FREE or KNUDSEN FREE Fat > Free Sour Cream Grated peel from 1 medium lime (about 1 tsp.) > 1 Tbsp. lime juice (about 1/2 of a medium lime) > 4 tsp. granular no calorie sweetener Besides the 20 gallons of sugar? My initial guess would be the heavy use of fruit. Oranges, kiwi, and strawberries are all pretty sweet and may be ok on their own but when put together they certainly pack a wallop. I could see this bringing on cravings with just one serving. <Grin> It may be more of a strategy to keep it away from those who are new P2 and not ready for so much fruit soon. Guest guest
I think I might give it a try anyway sometime this summer on a hot day, but either make it lot smaller or take it to a covered dish dinner and only eat one portion. I think I also would have it right after a meal so I have protein on my stomach when I eat it. ann > Why is this recipe phase 3? > > Mixed Fruit with Lime Sauce > > Phase 3 > > Prep Time: 15 min > Total Time: 15 min > Makes: 8 servings > > 2 medium seedless oranges, peeled, chopped > 2 medium kiwi, peeled, chopped > 1 cup sliced strawberries > 1 container (8 oz.) Guest guest
... Fruit generally does not bring on cravings... but those Kiwis do concern me some.. I am careful just what fruits I do eat and if you are careful in your selection it will be fine.. Oranges, apples, peaches, strawberries, canteloupe.. limit other berries, no watermelon, no honeydew kiwis etc... Sugar substitutes are more likely to induce sugar cravings in particular sugar alcohols and glycerine. Each of our bodies reacts differently to these chemicals.. The sweet taste may in fact trigger emotions that will result in a rush of hormones and enzymes in the body which could lead to an insulin spike and fat storage.. --- Noctaire wrote: > > 2 medium seedless oranges, peeled, chopped > > 2 medium kiwi, peeled, chopped > > 1 cup sliced strawberries > > 1 container (8 oz.) I disagree with you and for that matter so does the SBD. In early days of the diet, in large quantities, and especially when eating certain ones it is certainly a possibility. More importantly, there's a psychological construct here to be considered when eating something super-sweet. I know you disagree with the SBD's position on fruit but there's a reason that was put in there.
Guest guest
Hi .. Actually the majority of fruits should not be allowed on Phase 1.. but as for all of them you are correct I do disagree.. The very reason my sweetie started on a very limited Phase 2...he was allowed the magic apples.. GGGG He was not the worse for wear because of it he lost over 46 pounds in under 3 months time.. Apples are known to help curb your hunger.. and have the added benefit of aiding in elimination . --- Noctaire wrote: > > Fruit generally does not bring on cravings... but > those Kiwis > > do concern me some.. > > I disagree with you and for that matter so does the > SBD. Guest guest
>Fruit generally does not bring on cravings... but >those Kiwis do concern me some.. oh i would tend to disagree. fruit can certainly spark cravings, depending on what you used to eat before you switched to this WOE. it's particularly important to acknowledge this because everyone's metabolism is so different. as an example, apples don't spark sugar cravings for me but oranges do - and really badly. they're also likely the food that kept me plateaued in phase 2 - which is depressing because i love oranges. on a similar craving note but from a different angle, grapes, strawberries and blueberries are fine but cantaloupe is not - though not because of sugar. cantaloupe makes me crave really fatty meats. so while i'll eat apples, grapes, strawberries and the very occasional plum on my current phase 2, i won't eat oranges, peaches, or cantaloupe. i might try an apricot soon, though, and see how i do. >I am careful just what fruits I do eat and if you are >careful in your selection it will be fine.. >Oranges, apples, peaches, strawberries, canteloupe.. >limit other berries, no watermelon, no honeydew kiwis >etc... then as per your own comment, the kiwis are why it's phase 3 and is right - it WOULD pack quite a wallop >> > 2 medium seedless oranges, peeled, chopped >> > 2 medium kiwi, peeled, chopped >> > 1 cup sliced strawberries >> > 1 container (8 oz.) Guest guest
Hi ann.. I can't explain why this does not do it for you other than a difference in body chemisty.. I really do not even think of fruit as a snack but rather think of it as a meal I enjoy.. --- ann wrote: > Apples don't curb my hunger. Guest guest
I don't know anyone other than you who gets full from an apple. A bunch of us had a discussion about this when I was at my old office, about how fruit made all of us more hungry, as it is more of an appetizer than something filling. ann > > Hi ann.. > > I can't explain why this does not do it for you other > than a difference in body chemisty.. > > I really do not even think of fruit as a snack but > rather think of it as a meal I enjoy.. > >
